Nope.  My wife and I took our honeymoon there.  I assure you it's not "all close", not just because of distance but because of a winding, one-lane roads through hills/mountains.
QuoteYeah, what's really weird, he hasn't named any of the boogie men yet who are trying to take advantage of the people. Looking more and more like they are only strawmen.
You haven't educated yourself.  The topic came up because a reporter asked a question.

QuoteBINGO!!!!!!! You have got it right!!

QuoteThen you answer, why should the people have their right to sell their land to who they want taken away.

I've said multiple times that I don't agree with the government disallowing private citizens from selling their property.  I can think that and still not have anything close to your view of the evil governor of Hawaii!

Damn, wrong again. The topic started with the passing the law giving the governor the power to seize land. Then you had the governor telling the press he was looking into it.

But that is exactly what the governor is doing and you are taking up for him. So, one of those is a lie, which one? And yes, a governor taking away a property owners right to sell his land is evil.

Not only does Maui have to deal with a governor who wants to take away the right to sell their property to whom they want,

Federal Aid to Maui Reportedly Being Held Hostage, Here's the Reason

QuoteThe corrupt, ineffective federal government is preventing billions of dollars in aid from reaching the people impacted by the tragedy.

QuoteAccording to reports, a proposed $12 billion emergency funding package, some allocated for Maui, is linked to $24 billion for Ukraine.
"Thing is Biden's 12 billion was jammed into a Bill to give Ukraine another 24 billion, using Maui victims to blackmail Ukraine skeptics who are opposed, like most Americans, to writing blank checks to an ongoing meat grinder that risks nuclear war."

Quote"The 'leaders' in Congress decided to combined disaster relief for Maui with an extra $24 billion in funding for Ukraine. That means members of Congress who oppose more funding for Ukraine (there are many) would have to vote NO on disaster relief for Maui if they want to also block Ukraine war funding. This puts them in a lousy no win voting situation," Wall Street Silver writes.

Yeah Zen, not only do I think the governor in Hawaii is evil for taking away the right of the people, your liberal leadership in D.C. is evil for playing with people lives. But, I can't wait to hear your spin on this one.

lol.... yes  I think it's a great idea to not use close-by, available land, that can't be used for anything else, in favor of driving unnecessarily far for no good reason.  Do you think through these things before posting?

Are you talking about the land that has to be bulldozed before any building can be done? How are you going to bulldoze with temporary housing there? Do you even have any idea how much construction has to take place just on utilities before work can get done?

Then what is giving him the power to do so??

QuoteHawaii Governor Josh Green warned developers from the United States and the rest of the world not to buy up the lands that were recently devastated by the catastrophic wildfires in the historic town of Lahaina. This is because the state government is considering acquiring them for the locals so it's not "stolen by people on the mainland."

Regardless of the reason the governor is claiming, he is taking away the peoples rights to sell their land.

Quote"It's going to be a very long time before any growth or housing can be built, so you will be pretty poorly informed if you try to steal land from our people and then build here," he stressed. "I will try to allow no one from outside our state to buy any land until we get through this crisis and decide what Lahaina should be in the future."

This is a land grab. He is the one dictating who can buy, and to whom they can sell. At this point you are absolutely clueless about what is going on.

Again.  There was NO law passed that allowed Green to take land.  That claim is adjacent to the baseless claim the a DEW intentionally started the fires after a law, that doesn't exist, was passed.  THAT debunked claim is adjacent to the claim the Mountain Dew Maui Blast wasn't a coincidence.

So again, two things can be true. It can be true that the governor of Hawaii truly has the best intentions in mind when he wants to prevent investors from buying up all of the land, much of which has been in one family for generations, but he is trying to go about it absolutely the wrong way. However, anyone that has actually watched all of his comments would know that he has not only clarified that government taking the land is not an option, but he plans to use legal methods, like zoning laws, and is offering free legal advice to people who are approached to sell their land. This is all out there if you take the time to actually question some of the nonsense that is put on the internet.

From your own post,
QuoteGreen made affordable housing a priority when he entered office in January, appointing a czar for the issue and seeking $1 billion for housing programs. Since the fires, he's also suggested acquiring land in Lahaina for the state to build workforce housing as well as a memorial.

How does one acquire land without taking control of it? I don't doubt the government will pay them for it, but even you have to admit the price would be higher if the government did not limit the ones who can purchase. This type of government control is a land grab, despite what you are saying, and it starts by taking away some of the people's rights.

Too damn funny~!!

First it was, Nuh Uh, he didn't say that. Then, he was taken out of context. To now, there's no law passed.

So, let's backtrack to where this discussion started because it certainly seems like terms like "seize" land and "land grab" are being redefined to "Well, the government is going to pay people for their land, but it's wrong to not allow them to sell it to whoever they want".

The claim was that there was a law passed in July that allowed the government to reclaim land in the event of a natural disaster and that the government intentionally started the fire using DEWs to justify reclaiming land to turn Maui/Lahaina into a 15 minute smart city.

This, like the TTV/Georgia situation, will have to be watched because only time will tell, but so far it's known that there was no law passed, the pics that claimed to be of DEWs were not of DEWs and the clarifying statements by the governor don't appear to be those of someone looking to execute a true seizure or land grab.

Cut the bull shit, that is not what the topic was about, and your need to move the strawman, set it afire, and claim some kind of delusional victory, speaks volumes on your mental instability!

Fair enough.  The detour that took the conversation into the current topic was started in the 4th post of the thread:

Thanks for the insight into Paradise, CA. You might already be aware of the July 17th, 2023 law change in Hawaii giving the government "land reclamation" powers in the event of an "environmental crisis". Maui is a false flag event with real and catastrophic consequences. These Globalists will move forward with their plans now to convert Maui into the Globalists first full scale "government control 15 minute city". PS...it is also relevant to mention Oprah's and Bezos have massive properties on Maui sprawling hundreds of acres....all untouched by fire.

And then you and Possum continued the Maui/DEW/land grab in posts 5-6.
