The obvious facial resemblance of John Lennon and Serbian WW2 General Dragoljub Draža Mihailović was a subject of internet jokes from the very beginning, when people were posting photo montages of John Lennon dressed like a Serbian Chetnik guerrilla fighter. But recently, many insiders are claiming it is a true story, and Lennon was really an illegitimate biological son of Mihailović.

Such is the case with Serbian satirical portal "Zicer". But sometimes, the truth is intentionally published as a joke, when there is no real evidence revealed, but still someone wants everyone knows the truth.

The story goes like this. Mihailović was appointed as a military attaché of Kingdom of Yugoslavia to Czech Republic in 1937. There in Prague he met Julia who was working as a British agent. They got into a romantic relationship, from which their son John Winston Lennon was born in New York City in 1940. Julia's legitimate husband Alfred left her after he learned that John was not his biological son. Julia didn't have the time to take care of her son John because she was busy working as an intelligence officer, so she gave him to her sister Mimi.

General Mihailović was not really killed by Yugoslav Communists in 1946, but he was transferred to Russia instead, because he became a Russian agent during his service as a military attaché of Kingdom of Yugoslavia to Sofia, Bulgaria, before Prague. When he died in Moscow in 1958, his lover Julia didn't have some kind of protection anymore, and she was assassinated by Croatian Ustasha Nazis. At some point, John was told the truth about his real origin, hence he wrote "Back in the USSR" where his biological father died, and he moved to NYC, the place of his birth. John was also assassinated by Croatian Ustasha Nazis in 1980.



Although this story circulates the Balkans as a joke, it is a fact that sometimes "proofs" can be forged and "jokes" could be telling the truth. Who knows.

Who was General Mihailović.

True or not, I never liked the guy. The left influenced their music later in their careers.
I hated the shit they came out with in the late 60s, as the left had used them and poisoned entire generation.

I wouldn't be one bit surprised if it were true, there were many subversive voices of influence in their lives, especially where parents were absent. And in Lennon's case, really absent.
