Because they know Japan and others won't turn a blind eye. So I kind of doubt it will ever happen because, the global risk of their Belt Road will come to an end along with what's left of their economy, which is hanging by a thread.

Thing about Taiwan, the CCP doesn't need to attack militarily, they could easily crush them financially.
