I can not understand why Shumer would bring this and the voter fraud bill to a vote, knowing he did not have enough votes to pass.

What's in it for him? IMHO, it is going to be harder to bring it up for another vote and even harder to get it to pass now. I wonder if this is tied in with Bidens comment that the midterms might be  "illegitimate"? is this the game plan?

I think he's probably just clearing the decks. The battle was already lost, but he felt it would hurt his position to allow the bills to hang in the shadows.

It is an act of self preservation. He is petrified that AOC will run against him in a primary and he is trying to appease the far left.

I can see the point about appeasing the left, maybe trying to stop the oncoming melt down. But it sure makes him and the party look very weak. I would not be surprised if AOC decides to go for it after that. Makes for good watching. Shumer, pelosi, among others will be leaving politics at the lowest level of their careers.   :thumbup:
