It's the Gerald Ford. (I wonder if the ship's motto will be, Pardon me!)

QuoteThe Navy just took delivery of the world's most advanced aircraft carrier on Wednesday, the service said in a news release.

The future USS Gerald Ford (CVN-78) finished acceptance trials under the shipbuilder, Newport News Shipbuilding, on May 26. Soon after those trials, which tested and verified the ship's basic motor functions, the Navy officially picked up the ship from the builder, representing the first new aircraft carrier for the service since 1975.

The Navy plans to officially commission the Ford into the fleet sometime this summer.

( . . . ) Besides being the most advanced ship ever built, it's also the most expensive: The final tally to build it came just shy of $13 billion. Still, with it's [sic] high-tech gear, the Navy expects to save about $4 billion on this ship over its lifetime since it has more automation and better systems.

Once the Navy gets it, then comes lengthy installation and testing of classified equipment, and extensive sea trials for both the ship's crew and prospective air wing. The magnetic catapult system is revolutionary in its own right.

Correction: A previous version of this article said the Ford was the first new carrier for the Navy since 1975. It is the first newly-designed carrier.

NICE!!! China has decades of work to even reach our current standards, which is what the world strives to do, a decade late and a trillion dollars short.
We technically own the world, we have no real threats to our will or our sovereignty, no, our real threat comes from within.
