I would suggest that while we militarily kicked the Cong's asses, primarily with an overwhelming number of men, materiel, and money, 58000 names, on that wall in DC, says we lost that sumbiching war. That does not include the overwhelming number of maimed and mutilated soldiers that lived out and are living out their lives as shells of men.

I would suggest farther it was not our business to get involved in the war to begin with.
The last Americans were long gone from Vietnam, when the Demorats managed to grab defeat from the jaws of victory. The US had forced the North Vietnamese to the peace table and forced them sign a treaty completely in our favor, that was before our Demorats sold our allies out.

By the way, for those of you that know less than shit about the military, especially the military of the Vietnam Era; the military was basically set up to refight World War II in Europe. Therefore it had a a huge logistical "tail" and no where near enough "teeth". The "grunts", the guys that actually fought the war - not the REMF's - always went into the field outnumbered by the VC/NVA. We won battles because we had better air and artillery - and our troops were better. The ignorant hear the troop levels in Vietnam and stupidly assume those troops actually fought. The "grunts" went to Vietnam and got out of the field once for R&R, the REMF went to Vietnam and never went into the field. Oh yeah, and got the same R&R.

Political wars, that are orchestrated by politicians and cost the blood and lives of the guys on the ground, always suck. There is no winning.

This is just my opinion, but I think JFK signaled our weakness and lack of determination with the Bay of Pigs fiasco, and that helped embolden the commies. I also think that we should have kept the ground war to a minimum, and gone straight for the VC leadership and cities. Vietnam started us on the path of fighting "politically correct" wars; problem is, it costs American lives.
Nope, Korea. Instead of fighting wars out to their bloody conclusion; we suddenly adopted the policy of "Limited War". I guess all the communists we had floating around our government had nothing to do with that/sarcasm.

I stand corrected. The forgotten war, that, not only are we still paying for, by providing free armed security to S Korea, but still dealing with threats fom the north.

Oh...That's right! Dennis Rodman fixed it. More sarcasm.
