A new Cold War or sort of it is pending in Arctic over its vast resources. It's going to be the war of western world on China. China is now calling itself "a near Arctic state" and a "stakeholder" in Arctic affairs, though it has never bordered the region!
The Chinese motives are plain clear: with China's energy import-dependent economy Arctic resources are sort of strategic remedy. You might be well in the know that since 2003 oil is a key component of the China's national economic security.
I'm dead sure that if the USA fails to kick China out of the Arctic race, I bet you that the 21st century will belong to China not the USA!

Can you cite sources showing China's claims to the Arctic and who is expected to cede ground?
