You're wrong. They fought to defend the Republic of South Vietnam, and to keep Southeast Asia from going Communist. And they won. Then a Democrap came to power and threw it all away - damn that sounds familiar! Like something that just happened recently?

You are so correct and, unfortunately, time erases facts. Most people do not remember what a threat communism was during that period, especially in the far east. It was called the "domino theory" and the original purpose of the Vietnam war was to stop communism there. As Giles points, out LBJ tried to give us "guns and butter' and would not fight to win the war. It cost us about 58,000 heroes, some of which were my friends. He was an evil man.

Five months after I came home from the RVN (Republic of Vietnam) following completion of my 2d tour of duty (aka deployment), the first Vietnam draft lottery drawing was held on December 1, 1969; as such Donald Trump's b-day being 14June46, his number would've been No.356 -- which meant he probably wouldn't have been subject to the draft. As designed the 1st third (1-122) were advised to expect draft notice; 2d third may/may not be called up; final 3d were unlikely to be drafted. However, depending upon where person registered for selective service, marital status, or employment plus number of years since registration played role in delaying such draft notifications.

Over the years I've amassed extensive collection of those who should have been drafted, which I here-in share with CPF members. For reference my lottery draft number was 213.
