QuoteSeoul's announcement coincided with growing resentment at the $5 billion (£3.9bn) annual fee that Washington is demanding to keep 28,500 US troops in South Korea.

That figure is a sharp increase from the $923 million that Seoul paid this year, which was an 8 per cent increase on the previous year.

This doesn't strike me as good, from a geopolitical standpoint. But, from the POV that we should bring all of our troops home and stop being the World Police this is kind of good.

Maybe S.K. sees all the advantages N.K. has had from their close relationship with China and wants the same thing. ORrrrrrrr, could be another case of the lsm blowing something way out of proportion.

Interesting post. I am not so convinced that this is entirely bad. We can't keep troops there without monetary backing, it costs millions of dollars to hold troops overseas. In the case of North Korea, which continues to act like a petulant child, It seems like a small price to pay for security.

Title is pure bull shit! Though not technically a lie, it is in no way what it claims. Here is the reality, they agree to meet and discuss more.

On the sidelines of regional security talks in Bangkok on Sunday, Jeong Kyeong-doo, the South Korean minister of defence, and his Chinese counterpart, Wei Fenghe, agreed to set up more military hotlines and to push ahead with a visit by Mr Jeong to China next year to "foster bilateral exchanges and cooperation in defence", South Korea's defence ministry said.
