For those of you who miss those halcyon days of trying to get those super-cool DOS-based games to run on your spiffy new 386 machine...

Whoever has the rights to the original Wolfenstein 3D has put up a web-based version of the game that can be played through your browser. It's a certifiable blast from the past, but it doesn't actually work very well. I remember, after nights of ridiculous rearranging of IRQ addresses and reassignment of DMAs and memory allocations, I finally had DOS 6.2 trained to run Wolfenstein 3D. GOD, I was proud! I actually wrote a batch file to automate the settings for all the different games, including W3D.

It was THE. BEST. GAME. EVER. Well, in 1993...

The link is offered with the warning that it didn't work well for me. Using IE, I got no sound and couldn't properly set control options. Using Google Chrome, I made it all happen, but the mouse aiming is... well, weird. I could get used to it, I guess, but it's slow, and therefore deadly.

Enjoy, just for the nostalgia factor.
