Anyone familiar with Steam?  I've been seeing it everywhere like it's a big deal or something.  I guess it's a place where you can purchase games?  I may try a game at some point if anyone knows about it or recommends it...

Steam started out as a Video Game Verifying site, you buy a game, they verify it's authentic, then every time you play the game, they check to see you didn't give it to someone else.
Now, they have grown to where they keep your game updated for bug fixes but they also update it for on line play, something I wish they had an opt out for, the downloads can take a long time, delaying your ability to play.

There is another related to Steam called U-Play, works the same, but with Steam you can download games cheap and direct. Me, I still like having the disk in case the game crashes, I don't have to download a couple of gigs again.
