Amid a carnival-atmosphere I walked-out of the store with my copy.

About an hour later, I discovered the game required way more memory-space than my console had.  Now I gotta buy a GB-8 something...

Stay tuned...

Buying video games is a dangerous move these days.
Let me know what you think of the game, I've never played any of the GTA theme.

Wow, you've missed some the most biting anti-Left satire in the US entertainment market, especially in IV.  -Mostly aired on the plethora of radio-stations the characters can listen-to during the game, as well as many of the street-comments.

Yeah, they swipe at the Right too, but not often and not with any real verve.

Hehe the thing is, the stuff that they are satirical about the right on are things where we go "yupp, amen to that" stuff like survivalism, guns and anti taxation, but the leftist get offended when they are made fun of, listening to the leftist/communist radio station is my favorite channel in GTA, I remember in GTA IV it was one advert that went like "Come on fellow green liberals, come to the eco festival where we will stop global warming together with music and save the planet by smoking dope" or something to that effect

In the first GTA you also get bonus points when driving over 20 something "hare krishna" or whatever they are called sect members

I'm waiting for the PS4 to buy it

Finally installed the memory-storage needed... and played about an hour into the story.  I'm black kid with a hot car.  It's ironic, cuz I'll play 'im white.

The graphics are key though, and these borrow heavily from L.A. Noire in a beautifully gritty way.

Yep...  Nothing like doing a neat hook-n-retrieve tow-truck job, then venturing into the mountains for a relaxing hike up a trail.  -And suddenly being disemboweled by a wild dog or whatever, that materialized out of nowhere.

Sorry, African-American fans.  Toldja I'd be actin' white.

Onward...

I was compelled to 'become' Chop; a pitbull, searching a train-yard for a criminal in-hiding... but I lost control of the camera as I ran straight toward a female dog.  I had to switch identities to the main character temporarily, to 'pull Chop off his romantic counterpart'...  then I switched-back to Chop, and found the criminal.

I don't know how far I am now...  40-ish percent, maybe.  I stole a submersible, then orchestrated a container-ship explosion in the harbor.

It's a fascinating exploiture so-far.  Heavy immersion-factor.

Just finished it... the main-story, with a few side-missions in about 80-hours of gameplay.   It was absolutely superb.  -Hard not to award it Game Of The Year.

And the satire is still way more anti-Left than anti-Right.  The biggest difference between 5 and 4 is that accumulating money meant more in 4.  Here, the characters became millionaires relatively quickly.  I stopped paying attention.

I'm actually only 75% finished with the miscellaneous missions...  searching for flying-saucer parts, solving random-crimes, playing golf, playing tennis, cable-car riding, mountain-biking, elk-hunting, skydiving, sea-doo racing, street-racing, etc.

Visited the Playboy Mansion, but I guess I need to finish 100% of the game to see 'the chicks'.  I'll also be able to hunt Bigfoot and investigate UFO-sightings.  Maybe pilot a blimp as well.

A great experience overall.

I may keep writing about it.

You'll enjoy it.  Liberty City is an open environment, but 2 of the 4 main islands will be locked until you complete a scattering of missions.  There's no rush though.  There's a myriad of amusing distractions.

You can get money right-away by driving a cab, with built-in GPS.

It's a long, sometimes heart-tugging, illuminating, comedic sojourn... jam-packed with thrills, spills, and chills.

The best hints I can offer are:

save the game before you start a mission, if possible
buy, or be on-the-lookout for body-armor constantly
make sure there aren't cops around when you steal a vehicle... cuz they'll overwhelm you if they can

The internet will have stunt-jump and pigeon locations.  And call-girls.

Those are all the basics I can think of for the moment.   Ask me, if ya need help with something...   Happy Motoring

Just bought in computer at steam release mysef, really enjoy it. Finally an awesome online game module, remember having a lot on fun on a mod made AllseeingEye GTA vice city mp back in the day.

Also love how they made the cops fucking crazy like in the original GTA if anyone remember that game

kit saginaw

Yeah, the police will swarm you if you hesitate.  And they'll rope-down out of SWAT-helicopters if you're too dangerous.
