Are video games art?

There is one video game that I am really excited for. It is called Valiant Hearts. I love history especially military history. What do you think? Do you think video games are a legitimate art form? Do you think that they are an form of entertainment that is only for children? I believe video games as well as animated movies and comic books have grown up and do not deserve to be treated as something that is only for children.

That looks very interesting. And yes, it can be art, just like a car or furniture, they too can serve a dual purpose, from functionality to being an attractive addition to the home.

I have to disagree, animation was never just for kids, though much of it was written for kids, but look at the earliest cartoons from the 20 and 30s that entailed dancing farm animals, those were directed at farmers that could appreciate the absurdity of the situation.
Most of these were set in theaters where the rural farmer would come for a break from hard labor.
