Looking at a show on the Science Network recently. It was on the history of the Earth. It was going along just fine UNTIL it had to give the obligatory AGW plug. Now it had just gone through how warm the Earth was during the 140 million year reign of the Dinosaurs. And it had mention how the Earth was once a "snowball", a period that only ended due to CO2 buildup in the atmosphere from volcanoes. And they had also gone through how little of the history of Earth had involved Humans (If you condense that history to one year, humans appeared about 12 minutes to midnight on 31 December). And they mentioned how we're are currently in an interglacial period. And then they blamed all of Global Warming on the 200 year span of the Industrial Age.

Uh, guys -  you just got through at you explaining how humanity is a bunch of new guys in the long history of the planet. So the plug, is disproved by the rest of your program. And then their are those programs that have humanity disappearing and all the innocent animals taking over. The narrator had most of humanity's works disappearing in about 200 years. Uh dude, their are still people living in houses over 200 years old. Roman ruins go back 2,000 years. Ancient Egyptian, Chinese and Indian ruins go back 4,000 years. it isn't that all signs of humanity will be gone in 200 years, it's that you WANT all signs of humanity to be gone in 200 years. I simply do not understand people who get all happy at the idea of humanity - INCLUDING THEMSELVES - being wiped from the face of the Earth.

Giles, are you kidding? They don't want humanity in general to disappear. They want the unbelievers -- the infidels -- to disappear. That group happens to include something over 99% of the human population, but they're OK with that, as long as they themselves, the self-chosen, remain to provide their special supervisory touches to the planet's rebirth. So they only want ALMOST ALL of humanity in general to disappear.

I see the makings of a great science thriller.

Take about 20 of those people kidnap them and drop them on a desert isle that has just barely enough plant and animal life to sustain them, with the idea that they are the last people on Earth.

Now the fun begins as we watch them throw their ideals out the window and kill each other off, in an effort to survive...

Yeah, evwrything from science to history channels have been overrun by leftwing activists passing off leftwing opinion as fact. You have to be really selective when watching shows on these channels because the overall integrity of these channels has been compromised.

It's gotten to the point where you have to watch these shows very carefully, and verify anything whenever possible. I've noticed the History Channel in particular passing off speculation as fact, and have caught History International in outright lies on the subjects of Henry VIII of England and Mary Queen of Scots. It's sad because instead of spreading socialist propaganda, these channels could be excellent teaching mediums.  :(

I'm glad someone else saw History channel promoting an agenda, I caught them preaching man made Global warming.
Granted these are very subtle, but to the lay person, they become facts.

I thought I was the only one who was seeing this happening; glad others see it also. It's why I keep harping about research and verifying information for yourself, and educating yourself about issues. To the average layperson, if it's on the History Channel or Discovery, or in the NY Times, etc, well, it must be so if all these "experts" say it, but just a few minutes with Google will blast that attitude out of the water.

Sadly too many are lazy and believe what they read in the paper or see on TV.
I turned on NBC nightly news the other day, first time in more than 4 years.

I couldn't believe my ears, it was full of blatant lies and speculation was being presented as evidence that the Tea party was full of racists.
It didn't stop there, that was only the opening salvo, the entire 30 minutes was opinion based reporting disguised as news.

Now I remember why I quit watching Network anything, it's all pure agenda...
