Title: Doomsdayers
Post by: Dan on March 14, 2012, 12:04:46 PM
Is it just me or do any of you guys like this show too. I know some of the people on there are a little "off" but I think the show is a hoot.

I too enjoy the show. Saying that some of the people are a little off is an understatement. I think the producers seek them out and prod them on to make the show more interesting.

Yes, both of them, Doomsday Preppers and Doomsday Bunkers.

OK, I never saw any of it, just saw bits and pieces on youtube.
There is an actual thread on it, I think in the Survivalist forum.

I take it the producers were trying to make them out to look stupid?

To me, the producers allowed or encouraged the participants to go to extremes in their views and efforts. Then they presented a critique pointing out the holes in the fears expressed and efforts made. One the show participants had State of Louisiana step in and remove all of his weapons on the theory he wasn't mentally stable. Didn't think he was that weird myself. However it was haliarous watching him act tactical with his weapons being so badly overweight and in poor health.

I saw that video, someone posted it.
I felt sorry for the guy, they claimed it was for his own safety, as if no one has ever hanged themselves before.
