Animatronics is one of those Hollywood special-effects arts which continue to fascinate  movie fans. Here's a 1:36 introduction from a few years back, showing why you definitely DO NOT want to irritate your pizza service....

MAKING ANIMATRONIC PIZZA

And then the single biggest awful pun on the Internet, again with animatronics, on the terrific BBC sci-fi series Torchwood. This absolutely ROCKS for how it revolutionized alien-creature make-up --- and although this tune has been used to death in other YouTube clips, here it works masterfully in a splendidly-edited piece. (Can ya tell I'm a fan of this series yet? Can ya, huh?)

(But if you're wondering how did they DO that, there's even more!)

Quiller.  I liked Torchwood even own the series on DVD.  Special effects were cool.  What I didn't like was the lead character coming out as bisexual and then the lesbian relationship for the one scientist.

Toy :)

BBC are doing that on numerous series, and frankly it's the only negative in an otherwise hugely entertaining sci-fi series. One suspects that overly-PC forces at "the Beeb" were behind this "show of tolerance."

The first (longest) season DOES have more about a married policewoman whose definitely-heterosexual domestic life forms a large part of whenever she's on-screen.

The "lesbian" sequence you mention was between a hugely-determined alien posing as human, and an alienated, socially isolated, emotionally-stunted member of the Torchwood team. The writers clearly show Toshiko was tricked into the relationship, to allow the alien babe access to technology which would help her escape from Earth.

Torchwood Children of Earth (season 2) and the thoroughly unsettling Torchwood Miracle Day (newest season, much of it shot in the U.S.) are in my opinion must-have additions.

Miracle Day (shot a few years ago) bears an absolutely uncanny resemblance to health-care discussions in the U.S. about death panels. It's a fine way to examine issues our media refuses to address, such as, what part of our society do we decide not to treat at all, and instead just send to the ovens---alive.

Oh, yeah. And the weevils are farrrrrrrrrr out!
