That was him.

That was him.

Gee, he was a "young" octogenarian.  He seemed healthy and fit.

Death by pneumonia is usually secondary to another illness.  I wonder if this was a simple case of pneumonia?  It is so treatable by modern medicine.

R.I.P., Wayne... a no-BS economist and investor.  I'm going to miss him interrupting the young-guns on Cashin' In, schoolin' some sense into the exuberance.

Could very well be so.  My Mom suffered a bad fall last summer.  Broken bones immobilized her.  The Doc was more concerned with her getting pneumonia than the healing of the broken bones. They immediately gave her a pneumonia vaccine shot.  She wound up with pneumonia anyway.

My dad suffered a similar experience. At 93 he was fit and active, but on a windy day the screen blew off porch and he ran out in the yard to stop it, slipped and fell, bruised up pretty well, but it was the bed rest that did him in, got weaker by the day till he died a few weeks later.
