This is a perfect example of how the snowflake generation does not get it. The first amendment protects freedom of speech. She is perfectly free to give the president the finger. However, the first amendment does not remove personal responsibility for how one uses that freedom. I wonder if she understands the concept of consequences?

Now, this is the same type of hypocritical Liberal who would have a fit if a Conservative flipped off Obama or either Clinton. We all know she would be screaming a different tune.

As we have seen in the past, who decides the consequences and what are those consequences? The CEO of Chic-Fil-A only said he supported traditional marriage and Liberals went holy war on him. Just look at Laura Ingraham and her comment. They are going holy war on her. We already have Conservative students being kicked out of colleges for saying jokes about immigration or whatever their so-called "crimes" are. We have business owners saying they don't want to serve a gay wedding and getting punished to death with outrageous fines and being force to go out of business.

I do think that there is a fine line between saying you don't like/hate your president and making direct death threats. I do think that there is less effect of some nobody in college and somebody who could reflect/effect the company/brand they work for. I do think that some clerk/technician has less of an effect that a middle management (or above). I do think that saying you support traditional marriage is tame but saying "F.U." with a hand gesture is going to far. I do think that there is a difference between moral criticism and legally punished by law or policy.

PS: We all know if it was a Conservative flipping off Obama, the Liberal media would go holy war on that person. Just look at what CNN did with the kid with the Trump "wrestling' meme.
With all these lawyers with cameras on the street i'm shocked we have so much crime in the world.

This is one main reason I ask a ton of questions and I read a lot and then I ask questions based upon what I read.  Not only to learn but to avoid doing something dumb whether I agree or disagree with something.  Without understanding what the first amendment says, means and what the intent was I can see why she and a number of ppl would interpret it the way they do.  Most people are ignorant on what it says, what it means and the intent behind it.

It's not a right per se but a prohibition on what government can do.  That's all it is to it.  Let's take you Solar.  You're the owner of this forum.  The federal government is can't arrest me from saying something on this forum or being a troll.  But, you as the owner reserve the right to ban me or anyone you see fit.  That's what the first amendment says.

And, how is she a millennial?   She looks older.  Like late 40's early 50s or so.  Or am I mistaken?

The problem with people is they abuse the First Amendment. They assume it is to automatically say or do something. They have no respect other's freedom to be free from speech or expression. So what if you are gay. You don't have to parade it around (pun intended).

She hates Trump. Big deal. We hate Obama, Clinton(s), Bernie, or which ever Communistic Socialist runs for president. She has the right to feel that way even though her basis of it definitely misguided. And, as I said, she would feel the opposite if someone did that to Obama. Hell, the LSM would be the usual masters of hypocrisy on that matter.

This is not related to the subject, but since it is mentioned. Why start any social media avenue if you are not going to allow people to freely contribute to it (with reasonable expatiations). I don't believe that bumping an old thread isn't such a big deal if it will be continued appropriately.

Lol, without really digging into it I thought it meant the exact same way.  I get what you are saying about lack of respect for other's freedom to be free from speech or expression.  It's like saying one has the right to curse in front of my grandmother.  Dude, you just don't do that.  When my grandmother was alive I would never, ever, ever curse in front of my grandmother whether I had that as a right or not.  Let me put it to you this way, when my uncle was younger in his teens guess what she did b/c he kept complaining about how his eggs were especially after making his eggs three times.  She poured the fourth batch over his head.  My grandmother was 5'1 but you better not upset her like my uncle did.  If she heard me curse she would hit me on the side of my head.  You just don't curse like that especially with those who are your senior or elders especially family members.

I'm socially inept in a lot of ways but even I know you don't do shit like that.

Sorry for my tangent.

Everything you have said was right.  Especially, when she felt the opposite if someone did that to Obama.

Good Question!  I do think that people should be able to freely contribute to it under certain conditions.  Like no trolling, no placing ads, no putting up other people's address, things like that.

Bingo! You just swerved into the intent of the First Amendment. It is called being responsible. With freedom comes repocsibility.

Well, the results of her lawsuit is that it was dismissed.

QuoteJudge Penney Azcarate dismissed the lawsuit, saying that those First Amendment exclusions do not apply in the private sector, where employment is at-will. She added that she would have ruled the same had Briskman given the finger to President Obama.
