Guy goes hang gliding for the first time, tandem trainer forgets to hook his harness in.
I used to hang glide decades ago, and we had a saying, "never fly higher, than you want to fall", this guy went off a 4000 ft cliff. :scared:

So my question.  Would the person jump with him again?

Nope! I was wondering why they didn't land sooner.

I heard it on the radio this morning and they were saying no one knows who the pilot was, that he didn't work there.
My guess is he offered to take the guy up because no one was available, and due to lack of training, didn't have a checklist procedure in place and literally overlooked the very first step, "make sure your passenger is locked in".
His mistake was locking himself in first and not his passenger. I know, because the first and only thing you do after running a check of your kite, the only step left, is to lock in and fly.

I hope he has a good attorney, I have a feeling he's going to need one.

If they can find him. I have a feeling they know who he is, but are covering for him. The gliding community is a close knit group and they watch out for one another. in every way imaginable.
That, or they are telling the truth and he just showed up out of the blue?

CRIKEY!

I have flown as PIC commercially for lo, these many years, and dabbled with hang gliding briefly. Too damned scary. Too many outside forces can get the flyer into a corner.

Aerobatics in powered acft--- now, there's where it's at!

Yeah, quit because, to be honest, it's down right fuckin dangerous. It's no different then riding a bike, at some point, you're going down, maybe a little road rash, maybe hit a slick spot on a turn and hit a tree or launch off a cliff, same with kites, one day you hit a down draft or a thermal that tosses your ass into a mountain, at some point, your time runs out.
I cut my flying short, gave up bikes as well after hitting my third buck.
