Some python owners are just idiots. We had a couple here that left the snake's cage open and it ate their baby. As for the Everglades, the pythons have gotten so bad hunters have a shoot on site order.

Let me take a wild guess......the incident wound up being termed an 'unfortunate accident'?

It was about ten years ago that I heard there was a moron at a flea market near Dayton, Ohio selling live Gaboon Vipers, of all things. Gaboons are a very, very dangerous member of the viper family with fangs up to 2" in length.

There was talk of pressing charges for neglect. I haven't heard anything about it recently, though. Some of the people who keep these things as pets shouldn't be trusted with a gerbil, let alone a burmese python.

Or,  most importantly..........trusted with a baby.
