Of course we must consider the source, The Huffington Post.

We have 12 policemen ambushed and the article is questioning the legality of using this robot to take out one of the shooters? All I can say is "Just Damn".

I was waiting for some media moron to cry the blues about blowing up that bastard. Huff POS didn't disappoint. Maybe they wanted that bastard to kill more cops! It wouldn't surprise me if they did.  :cursing:

I thought this was spiffy....

QuoteStill, the fact remains that the police deployed a robot with the intent to kill a suspect, which some say sets a worrying precedent about lethal force that's completely separate from the ethical considerations of shooting a gun.
Journalistic secret: "some say" is the author's opinion masquerading as a source. This is not recommended for building credibility, any more than Huffing-glue Pestâ„¢ is a legitimate news source. They are not.

Quote"The legal framework for police use of force assumes human decision-making about immediate human threats," Elizabeth Joh, a professor of law specializing in policing and technology at the University of California Davis, told HuffPost. "What does that mean when the police are far away from a suspect posing a threat? What does 'objectively reasonable' lethal robotic force look like?"

U-of-C Davis. What, were the cell-phone lines busy to your usual first go-to, Berserkeley?

Joh recognizes that this wasn't a complex killing machine, but she argues its deployment indicates how easy it would be for police to launch more advanced weaponry without oversight. After all, they transformed a bomb disposal robot into a bomb delivery robot.

I hope that thought keeps her hiding under her bed until she's 87. But it's not the cops she needs to worry about.

How easy would it be for a 14-year-old kid with rudimentary electronics knowledge to rig a controller for a model airplane and then fit to to carry a bomb? What kind of oversight would today's parents give, to catch him before he takes out a whole class at school, flying the thing in through an open window.
