Support Dunkin Donuts
« on: August 31, 2013, 06:58:07 AM »
I love it when the PC police pull the race card and business refuses to back down.
Racists claim this to be racist?

The CEO for Dunkin' Donuts in Thailand dismissed the criticism as "paranoid American thinking."

"It's absolutely ridiculous," said CEO Nadim Salhani. "We're not allowed to use black to promote our doughnuts? I don't get it. What's the big fuss? What if the product was white and I painted someone white, would that be racist?"

Salhani said that the Thai franchise of Dunkin' Donuts operates independently of the American operation and that doughnut sales have increased about 50 percent since the campaign was launched around two weeks ago, which he attributed to curiosity about the new advertisements.

"Not everybody in the world is paranoid about racism," said Salhani, a Lebanese expatriate in Thailand who said his teenage daughter was the model featured in the campaign. "I'm sorry, but this is a marketing campaign, and it's working very well for us."

That's my current house blend. You can drink two full pots by yourself and your stomach won't do somersaults from the caffeine. Good stuff, Maynard!

  I think the last time I ate at Sambo's  was about 15 years ago.  It was one of the last Sambo's that I can remember.   All but the original Sambo's in Santa Barbara closed their doors is my understanding.

I still have an original Sambos red and white striped thermos, the one you could refill for a dime.
I guess that makes two of us.

The only things I recall about the place (I can't even be sure it was in Michigan) was the really bad mural that bore little resemblance to the stories I'd read as a kid. Thank God they didn't make the waitresses wear blackface.

The food? Awful. Even I a mere child of dubious tastes in foodstuffs could tell that much. There was so much sawdust in my burger that I could have set it on fire.
