I always do.  I am starting my flats now . I have some herbs started. Next month I will start some veggies. I was just wondering who puts out a veggie garden and what do you guys plant?

I am always impressed with how on top of it you are Elsie.  :) :)  I am planning one this year (again)  Just don't have time to wrap my head around it yet...  Hopefully you will have inspired me to start....at least thinking about it.. 8)

Well ST,, I just gotta play in the dirt, lmao.   Keeps me focused and  well,, It's a good calming thing. I just start em in flats and then put em in 16oz plastic cups til it's time to go outside.   Then they go outside and after a bit they get planted... it's fun to watch them come up...  I have 50 basil plants that just popped up....
fun part now is keepin the dorktard cats out of them...

We have a garden every year.  It's mostly tomatoes, bell peppers and onions but we also plant cucumbers, green beans and radishes.

We have one year round. I have a small herb garden inside the house, on my dining room table no less.  ;D Peas, beans, squash, greens (collards, mustard, turnips), cucumbers, tomatoes, okra, potatoes (just got done planting those), among others. I love digging in the dirt, and just finished weeding, deadheading, and mulching my flowerbeds.

What a wonderful thing!  I have just started my flats. As I said my basil is up and the flat is on the table.. I have 3 other herbs split in a flat,,,they should pop this week.  I plant as many kitchen herbs as I can.  Tomatoes for canning, green beans peppers, hot and mild. The usual salad garden. Onions, this year I am going to do potatoes, never did those before.
I have an avocado tree growing, pretty proud of that one. Nothing is more fun then bring outside in the dirt, 'specially after one of "those" days, lol.
This year when we go to Bristol, I am seriously considering buying some plants on the way down, I get so jealous when they have their garden stuff out and it will be May before I can even think about puttin those tomatoes in,lol

Is it still legal?

I heard that they plan on making it illegal to sell your garden grown vegi's at a farmers market or at a road side stand.  They say it's because of food safety but I think it's because when you buy a bag of carrots from the guy down the road the government has no way of keeping track of those purchases with out you using a super savers card.

You are probably right on this one.  Heaven forbid someone make a little money that the government can't have it's hands in.  >:D >:D

I think it depends on your "crop".

Haha!

I am planting a garden this year and it will be the 2nd time. I will be planting tomatoes, squash, bell peppers, onions and cucumbers.

I had so much fun last year, but looking forward to doing some things a little different.

I love doing new things, been gardening for a long long time.   I have to make some new raised beds for the herbs.    I want to do potatoes,,,, Thinkin of turning the crawl space into a root cellar of some type.  I have to do some reading up on that first...

Playing in the dirt is therapeutic for me, like you, it calms me and takes away stress. I'm going to try cilantro this year, and haven't had any luck so far with my basil. My MIL, who lives next door, has a green thumb (she could make a rock sprout) and helps me out. This year I'm going to try to plant Vidalia onions and red onions and see how they do; we usually just drive up to Vidalia and buy them there. We've tried rutabagers (sp?), but no luck. It might be the soil, but we're going to try again. I have two apple trees and an orange tree, both are doing well, I was even able to use my apples in my pies and cobblers this year. I think fresh herbs make one's food taste so much better. What state do you live in? I'm in south GA. In our yard, we have mostly pine trees, and scattered oaks, but I'm still wanting a magnolia and a dogwood tree. I planted crepe myrtles last year and they're doing great.
