Once upon a time I walked in local Kroger to buy bottle of vine. I didn't have driver's license on me, but I have passport. They refused to sell it to me.
Most Americans have never even SEEN a passport. (Numerically.) I have, so I wouldn't argue, but many have not and are within their lawful right to refuse, if the ID is in question. You should have had a cop confirm it and they'd probably never ask you again after the embarrassment of being challenged and proved wrong.

You need to stay in a better part of town.  There the Drunk Illegals and then there the working class Illegals.

Then move out in the country while you still have time and live with the conservatives.   Most big towns are liberal cesspool, there working damn hard to make small towns the same way.

Even if they didn't, they should realise, that this thing (passport), looks much more.... I don't know...cooler, compare to driver's license .  And most important, that the whole idea behind this document check is, not to sell alcohol or tobacco to minors.
I didn't look like I am 21 year old, so the whole experience (manager of the Kroger was involved) was ridiculous.

If I work for a place and they tell me what they will only except for ID that is what I will only except.  You can get a ID from the DMV, for ID only.

Every once in a while, a clerk has trouble with my Driver's License. They need to be sure I'm over 18 when I buy  a bottle of Cough Syrup (thanks, Meth Heads).

My License is just like anyone else's so I don't know why there is EVER an issue, but...

So in those rare cases I bring out my only other Photo ID, which is my "Class A Large Capacity" "License to Carry Firearms". LARGE CAPACITY - ooooooh ! They always take that.

What these nitwits probably don't realize is, in my state LARGE CAPACITY is TEN ROUNDS (underwhelming to say the least).

Of course should Hillary ever be elected, you can all kiss your guns goodbye. "Large Capacity" or not.
