If you get a chance venture out West, like, Arizona, Texas, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, Nevada even the Eastern part of Ca and get a feel for what true America is.
The South is a good representation, but only a small sampling.

Hopefully I'll be able to. I have seen a tiny part of Arizona while visiting lake Mead.

I prefer to visit both, large cities and small towns, I never regret this decision :)

Exactly! A friend of mine loved European history and architecture, been there several times, but the last time she went, she ventured out in the rural countryside and was totally shocked at how people were so much nicer and trusting than their city counterpart.
Same with anywhere you go I guess. City people are usually self absorbed and too pressed for time and generally inconvenienced if interrupted.
Country people tend to welcome outsiders unless they're obvious city dwellers, then we just fuck with them.

Not a problem.  But big cities are all about FREE stuff.  Just ask the working taxpayers.

If the Russians did have anything to do with the election results, may I be the first to say thank you.

We can't have every performer doing Patsy Cline or other Grand Ole Opry classic performers FOREVER. If you're a purist the Alan Lomax recordings of true roots music are now available, or any number of "side genres," but yes, the present country scene DOES have its rock-and-roller influences...and always have. Jerry Lee Lewis, anyone?

Willie Nelson wrote "Crazy." Who hasn't heard of him? You don't hear him doing Waylon Sr. ripoffs, do you?

TRUE country is HEARTFELT country. The instruments and arrangements and audio tricks mean nothing without it. American music, plain and clear --- the songs of who we are.

Like this?

Béal Feirste

Hi everybody, I am Béal Feirste and I hope none of you mind too much if an Irishman such as myself decides to look around.  To be honest I don't know much of conservatism in the United States, and American politics is a bit odd to us Europeans to begin. But I imagine there is more to it than what I see about President Trump on the news.
I am a 24 year old male from the lovely city of Belfast who has been to the United States three times mainly to the east and west coasts with the exception of a short trip to Texas. I'm catholic but not terribly religious and am strongly in favour of a free speech, free religion, and an open market with few barriers and unified regulations (that would make me a liberal here, but I'm not sure what I'd be in the States). Feel free to ask me anything and feel free to tell me off if I accidentally say anything offensive (not my intention).

Welcome Beal. Here is a perfect video to get you started on understanding American politics.
Though a bit old, the video explains how our nation was designed to function.

You're not alone. It was ably said long ago that there are two things in life that one must never see: the making of sausage, or the making of laws in the U.S. Congress.

QuoteBut I imagine there is more to it than what I see about President Trump on the news.

For background, follow Trump's criticism of the media which led to all-out war against his campaign, and media hysteria once he defied them and won, anyway.

I am a former newspaper reporter who did not vote for Trump. He's right about the media.

Welcome. Please stick around awhile and you will begin to see what true conservatives really.

First, as far as most of us are concerned Trump is not a true conservative and was not true conservatives first choice. He is more of a populist. However, he has appointed some folks who are conservative. Based on what you shared as to your beliefs you are on the way to being a conservative. Please feel free to ask questions as I am pretty sure where you get your news it is leftist leaning.
