HELLO, I'm a computer Know-nothing refugee from "political Crossfire Forum", where leftist rant and drivel are the soup de jour. I'm here to read some thoughtful discussion based on truth, kind of an alternative lifestyle choice coming from where I've been. I'm just afraid that too much real thought may fail to stimulate my argumentative writing style and I will not want to preach to the Choir. I'm fairly old, I remember warning my friends about Nixon's questionable "conservative" credentials, and the 1968 Gun Control Act stopping my impending purchase of my first Ruger Super Blackhawk. I was registered Libertarian till that left libertarian satellite radio personality ran for NY Governor(can't remember his name, no loss), now I'm Constitutional(no real party there) but I can't stomach calling myself Republican after all their betrayal of America(and my cousin was their first candidate for President). I'm a real life political refugee from the Marxist Republic of Aztlan(California), a state that my family helped create. I'm a disabled "jack of all trades", like the 17th century Catholic French church records recorded for my eponymous ancestor. My family still resides there(California) and here in Pennsylvania, where many of my immigrant ancestors first set foot in America. My family, part of it, were the leading edge of the pioneers who opened up North America for settlement, and some of my relatives' other ancestors were there to welcome them(or not).

Welcome to the forum laelan51, we get our share of the ignorant as well, so don't assume you'll be preaching to the choir.
You'll find you aren't alone in the "old fart" category as well.

Thank you all for the welcome, folk. Is that my old cradle in that pic? lol. Thanks re putting the context re Conservatism and McCain. He is not someone about whom I knew much until the 2008 effort but have heard similar comments about him previously. However, he was of the right tribe at the contest and hence was preferred to what got up on the day. Of Palin; she indeed is the real deal!!...imho. I am interested to hear about the current crop of hopefuls. No messiahs please, though. After the Obama "cult of personalty" mob a genuine person would be refreshing. Palin or Condi Rice for 2016 anyone??

I'd say "anyone"

IMO, Obama is the first invented President. All the others, right or left, like them or loathe them, bad guys or good guys, were at least real people.

I really don't understand why people rave about his "speeches"? He has always sounded shallow and convoluted as far as I could judge.

But hey: I am also aware that the US has "below average" intelligent grownups.

To be honest, I don't know what he is talking about. And never have. He's also commited more faux pas than Bush.

The Americans weren't the only one raving about his speeches. The Europeans were mad for him too. But that's dying off.

I remember being open mouthed and speechless at one of my girl friends eulogising "He's SO intelligent". Back in the early heady days of "hope and change".

No on Rice, she is very much in the image of Bush, a total RINO.

Greetings!
I's like to introduce myself. I'm a late 50's single father who resides South of the Border in a resort/retirement village. I'm an Independent conservative who believes the Constitution was the result of enlightened cooperation of some of our most brilliant minds. I was raised in the South in a FDR Democratic family, and was a good little Lefty for the first 40% or so of my life. I worked and voted for Jimmy Carter in 76 and then enlisted in the Navy a few weeks after his election, the beginning of my coming out of the mist. I was a Corpsman (I assume most here can pronounce it correctly ) so I have a soft spot for Marines, and always will. I know exactly the moment I became an Independent Constitutional conservative, when the tanks broke through the walls at Waco.
I'm not big on forums except one we had here locally which recently pulled it's own plug, the Lefties running it finally couldn't defend their shaky position any more, life does have it's little victories now and again.  So I thought I'd find a place a bit more comfortable. I hope this is it, and I look forward to some interesting discussions. This is my second attempt at a post, I blew the first with those strange letters thing, they give me fits!! I failed every color test designed by the Navy, must have something to do with it.
I am a lover of history, especially American and Meso-American/Pre-Columbian, which explains my handle/Maya name, given to me many years ago.....but that's another story. Anyway, hello to all!!
The USA is fast becoming "The Land of the Fleeced and the home of de-praved"....
God save the Republic!!
