How's it going everyone? New to these boards and looking for a place to talk conservative politics. I'm a 29 year old Floridian and Christian. Most of my political views are libertarian, as I'm for small government and personal liberty, though not as socially liberal as most libertarians. I'm a strong 2a supporter viewing gun control laws as unconstitutional, I'm pro-life, pro-cannabis legalization, for criminal justice reform (decriminalizing drug use/harsher sentencing for selling/trafficking etc), I'm ok with same sex marriage, as I feel what goes on in anyone's bedroom or who you decide to marry isn't government's business. However, I'm a strong believer that there are only 2 genders and disagree with gender identity being given the place it is being given. Anyone is free to identify as whatever they want to identify as, but the government should not consider you the gender you identify as, nor should it force others, to include employers and other citizens to treat you as such. I'm also a strong 4a supporter and believe the government has been given far too much power in the name of terrorism. I'm a free market capitalist, believing the government should have little to no involvement in the free market. I support auditing the federal reserve and eliminating unnecessary federal agencies. As far as foreign policy, I believe wars should only be fought in defense of our country, however, I have no problems with special operations units training and advising foreign militaries/militias in the fight against terrorism. I would favor cuts to defense spending, so long as we could maintain the world's best trained and technologically advanced military. I agree with increasing border security (a.k.a building the wall), deporting illegal immigrants (though I favor paths to citizenship for those that have been here more than 10 years, have created a family, and pay taxes/can prove they have been working). Though I may not agree with him on everything, I am a strong Trump supporter and believe he is the president America needed after Obama. I believe he has done an admirable job and has been the best president in my lifetime. I'd like to see him give Rand Paul a spot on his cabinet if re-elected in 2020 and believe somebody like Rand Paul should be the future of the Republican Party.

I look forward to discussions on here and learning more, as mainstream media becomes increasingly unreliable. If you have any questions, ask away.

Any other libertarian leaning Republicans on here?

Not bad, not bad. I give you a B-.

What's your opinion on income taxes?

I favor a flat tax, then implement substantial spending cuts to counter the revenue losses.

Welcome to the forum Repub. Though, I imagine your opinions may shift in time, considering we're a hardcore Conservative site. Libertarianism is a young party movement to mist of us here since we were around to watch it mature and morph leftward.
Stick around, you'll see what I mean. Again, welcome aboard.

Don't get me wrong, I don't consider myself a full blown libertarian. I just know there are several issues (mostly social) the average Republican doesn't agree with me on, at least from what I've gathered by conversing with many over the years. I definitely used to be a lot more libertarian when I was younger, think several years back when the Ron Paul craze was a thing.

I favor a flat tax,
Why not just eliminate the IRS and repeal the 16th Amendment?

Income tax cuts don't reduce tax revenue.

Quick hit:

1 - Should homosexuality be hidden from children?

2 - Should homosexuals be allowed to adopt?

3 - If 1 is yes, and 2 is yes, then how would you reconcile?

4 - Why cut defense spending? Would it not make more sense to eliminate fraud, corruption, and waste?

5 - Should firearms training be a curriculum in elementary school?

Truth is, you're a Conservative in the Classic Liberal sense. Libertarian was nothing more than a rebellion from the corrupt two party system. They were well intentioned, they were unfortunately bastardized and destroyed by the GOP(long story), but suffice it to say there is no Libertarian movement.
What we're seeing today is the Base, that would be you, are taking over the GOP and dragging them, kicking and screaming back to the Right and killing off those that refuse to follow.

You, me, and the base are the majority of the nation and in sync with our demands of what we want in a govt. Granted, we may all not agree on everything, but we all want a smaller, less invasive govt.
Glad you're here Patriot...

Why not just eliminate the IRS and repeal the 16th Amendment?

We would eliminate the IRS with a flat tax, which should be followed by an audit of the federal reserve, which would be followed by eliminating other federal agencies. The end goal would be to repeal the 16th, which I feel would naturally follow after we establish a flat tax, abolish the IRS, increase spending cuts, and abolish other federal agencies.

1 - I want to say yes, but....
2 - Yes, though I believe homosexuality is against the word of god, I'm also a law enforcement officer and have seen what happens when the state has custody of children. I'd much rather have them in a household than in the hands of government. I also believe that the government should not govern based off religious doctrine, what people choose to do with other people is between them and god. At the end of the day, children in custody of the state is a burden on the tax payer.
3 - see above, and going back to 1, homosexuality shouldn't be something children are taught about. When I was growing up, it was just something you discovered was a thing and naturally, I remember thinking it was distasteful as did other kids. I believe it's best to just leave it that way. I don't believe it is something natural, thus it should not be taught as a norm.
4 - I don't doubt that corruption, fraud, and waste occurs within the DOD as well. As I said before, I'd be in favor of cutting some defense spending in order to reduce overall federal spending. This is a good read, https://www.downsizinggovernment.org/defense/plan-cut-military-spending
5 - I favor a system which would reduce the Department of Education's role and would allow states to run more private or charter schools that promote school choice and the liberty of parents and administrators to put together curriculums, which could include firearms training.

Hi I'm new. I'm from Missouri and I'm 26. I'm glad to find a place to chat with other like minded patriots. My political stance is far-right and I've been a registered Republican ever since I was old enough to vote. See you all around.
