oops I just realized that an intro thread already exists and it's pinned. I'm sorry

Not a problem, I will move your post in a few hours into the intro thread.  This will giving members time to see your post first and who you are.

Welcome, I have the same problem with my cat.   (my cat does not want to talk)

For the most part this forum backed Ted Cruz, the constitutionalist, and in no way supported Trump because the GOP only supported Trump to kill of Cruz, though we do now because, in the end, he is our President.
We have hope that he'll mostly be Conservative but won't hold our breath on that considering much of what he campaigned on contradicted itself nearly daily.
But we're also glad that a Marxist didn't win, aside from the fact most of us refused to support someone that campaigned to the left for the lib vote and openly stated he didn't need the Conservative vote to win.
No big, Walks will merge them in time.

Makes sense

Ok thank you, WalksTall :)

Most of us believe the "it was Russians" line is nothing more than an effort at distraction by a party who ran a terrible candidate that had no message other than four more years of Obama policies. That being said, we also recognize Putin for the thug that he is.

I understand your feelings regarding Putin.. Things are a lot more complicated regarding him from where I stand but I'll eventually chime-in in one of the Russians-did-it - related thread.

Many love an enemy they can see, and an old Commie is a perfect scapegoat for many to focus on.
Personally, I think Putin has done a fine job for the Russian people, geopolitically speaking, is another subject altogether, especially when considering his main opponent is an arrogant, ignorant, ideological child Muscum Marxist that had no business interfering in the Middle East whatsoever.
Expect things to change dramatically now that Obozo is about to be kicked to the curb.

I have to say, I'm excited that my country and yours might be able (maybe?) to have official ties finally, it's been very sad 8 years. I truly hope we can one day become allies.
One thing Americans do not understand that if Russians had a different leader, who is more European Union-friendly, Russia would suffer a lot more from Islamic terrorist attacks than she does now. Also, Putin only accepted a small few Syrian refugees, all of them Christian only. But that's another conversation.

Agree! That's the thing, Putin does what's best for his people and their nation, while our elected officials do what's best for them and the monied interests that put them in office.
Granted the Conservatives in the GOP are night and day from the rest of the party, those, the leftist GOP (RINO) holding power in the party give the left everything they ask for, never once considering the future of our nation.
It's these same people that helped run up our deficit to the point it can never realistically be paid down.

Are republicans normally so divided or did this happen because of Trump?
Yes, with all of Putin's faults and how he was handed his hat by Americans and Europeans, he does a lot of things to fiercely protect his own homeland, I deeply respect him for this.

No, the party split long ago over Goldwater in the early 1960's when the leftists in the party helped kill off his political career with the help of LBJ on the dim side.
It literally comes down to people on the Right that believe in our Founding ideals, VS leftists that care nothing for the nation, and it's those leftist GOP that made deals with the leftist Dim party that created the mess we're in today.
The world would be a happier and far more peaceful place if Conservatives were in power in the US.

I have long believed Russia and the USA has many common reasons to be allies and being non adversarial would be of benefit to both. You have not shared your age so we do not know your point of reference. I visited St.Petersburg in 2002 just when Russia was trying embrace capitalism. What struck me is most people over 40 seemed lost. They did not seem to know what to do with their new freedoms and the responsibility of being free. Whereas, those younger seemed really excited about their newly found freedoms.

As for Putin, he has been tough on radical Muslims which he should be. However, I see him as a narcicisist who desires to put the old Soviet Union back together. This would not be good for Russia or the West. I can assure you the West only wants peace and has no intentions of trying to defeat a Russia that also coexists in peace.
