Well we are locked in with smock today.    13 fires in Washington state and 15 in Oregon state.   Closest fire is 15 miles a way.  That should be out soon between the forest service fire equipment and the farmers.  My Neighbor has two large water trucks like this that he has sent them down to help and two road graders.

We've been living with less than a quarter mile visibility for a month now. It gets so bad you can't see 100'.
But then, I'm right next to a fire.

The one that was about 15miles away is out.  So the next one is 1.5 hrs. away as the as the crow flies.  We have had smock for only 4 days now.

We got up, the sky was blue, the moon was visible in bright white, we were looking forward to our first smoke free day in weeks.
Now it's smoky as hell out.

Well they said it would clear up around noon today.      I can only see out about 600' so I don't think it will make it.  They said Monday but not what Monday.

If we could just get a day or two a week of clear, I'd be happy, but I doubt we'll see clear skies until after the first rains in late Oct or early Nov.
This seems to be the new normal until we get rid of libs.

Today I can now see my yard fence line and the trees along it.
So I can see out the windows less then half a city block.

Hillsboro, OR here.  Visibility a little over 1/2 mile.  Air is still an immediate irritant once you get outside but nothing like 2 day ago.

Solar

Ours has improved a bit, still can't see beyond a 1000', but at least we can go outside now.

We've already hit Fall out here in the Sierra, the leaves are already changing and hitting the ground, at least 6 weeks early.

This is all due to the smoke which cut the light down so much, the trees think it's late October. :glare:

Well it looks like all the fires are out in Washington state, not one on the map.  Or air is cleaning up.  So it makes it nice outside.  Temp is running in the mid 80's

But Oregon has 9 fires going yet.  A bag one between Cal and Oregon going yet above you Sloar.

Ours are still burning bright, just picked up three more in the last couple of days, one just to the South of me, but it's on the other side of the American river canyon, so it can't jump, but it is smoking us out again.

But our air is clean now.

You can tell Summer is over.   Fall is set in, as we are in the low 60's and 50's daytime.  Night time will dip below 32º about Wed. of this week for the first time, so they say.    Time to check out the portable generator again and then the snow blower so it is set for December, if needed.
