WOW!!! And I commented to Toy that we were having a heatwave because we finally hit 52.
Yeah, it's done nothing but rain for the last month and yesterday and today we dry, but a Winter storm will hit Sunday and possibly a white Christmas.

Toy is back to looking for land in Idaho.

LOL tell ST it snow in Idaho also.  I am only about a 2hr. drive from Idaho but they get a lot more snow them we do.  You have to go over the Blue Mountains to get to Idaho from my place.  You see long hall trucks coming from Idaho with 2' of snow on top of them.

Oh, not because of snow, but because of Marxist Ca. She's looking at isolated land in the N/E, where it snows heavy.
She found a cement bunker buried in a mountainside for around $100K, 20 acres, looks good, unfinished, but no creek, I need a creek.

Well it looks like we will get a dusting of snow for about 6 hrs.  About 1" of snow in all.  It was calling for snow off and on all this week, then today it dropped down to 6 hrs. for tonight only.   My old bones do better then this.

Last week they claimed we'd have snow all week, then at the last minute (3 days into their botched forecast) they said rain, we had sun, then they said sun, we got rain.
Now when I look at their forecasts, if it says rain, I can expect sun.
Right now, they actually admitted they have no clue what is going to happen, said 30% chance of rain, 30% chance of snow and 30% chance of sun.

In other words, we'll get a bit of rain, cold enough to snow and sun with thunder showers.  Hell, I could do better.

They did it again!
They claimed we'd have more than a foot to 3 feet of snow by Thursday evening and be snowed in by Friday.
Well it's Friday morn and all that's left is an inch of very wet snow.

We got snow Thursday from 2P.M. until 6P.M.   Not much on top of the 1/2" we had.  The sidewalks stayed clean, no build up on them at all.

It's calling for snow Sat. for 3 hrs. as the winds will be coming from the North. Then they will go back to there normal SE winds. Winds will only be 3MPH for the most part of the day.

Looks like you're getting a blast of the same warm air we're getting, but you got sun, we didn't.

I can't believe it's nearly 50 outside at 7:00 PM, when it should be in the 20s. Snow is all but melted and tomorrow will be even warmer before the next front hits Tuesday, more zonal and colder.

Not too far from my house, but several thousand feet higher, the peak got blasted with wind.
We had serious gusts here at the house, warm dry air out of the north. Went to bed expecting temps in the mid twenties, woke up at 1:00 am to 45 degrees which is hot this time of year.

Record gust of 209 mph recorded near Lake Tahoe

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. (AP) — A gust of 209 mph (336 kph) was recorded atop a California peak on Sunday, a potential record that wowed forecasters monitoring a cold storm that moved south through the state dumping snow, rain and hail.

The blast of wind was captured around 7:45 a.m. by an instrument at 9,186 feet (2,800 meters) on Kirkwood Mountain south of Lake Tahoe, said National Weather Service forecaster Alex Hoon.

He and his colleagues at the NWS office in Reno, Nevada watched in surprise as wind speeds across the crest of the Sierra Nevada hit 150 mph and kept rising.

"It went up and up," Hoon said. It could take months for state climatologists to verify the record, he said.

"But the way that the winds did ramp up, it looks legitimate," Hoon said. "It's an exciting moment for sure."

The previous record was a gust of 199 mph (320 kph) at Ward Mountain west of Lake Tahoe on Nov. 16, 2017.

The storm that caused widespread in flooding last week in Washington and Oregon brought a strong cold front to California.

Waves topping 5 feet (1.5 meters) were recorded on Lake Tahoe, where air temperatures dipped below freezing.

Powerful winds downed trees and knocked out power to tens of thousands in the San Francisco Bay Area.

The same system dumped hail in parts of greater Los Angeles and snow in mountain areas north and east of the city.

Heavy rain fell as stars arrived for the Academy Awards in Hollywood on Sunday. The red carpet was protected by a tent but the position of some camera crews had them just outside the shelter, sending them scrambling to find tarps and plastic to protect their gear.

Temperatures in LA were in the 50s (about 13 Celsius).

Wow!!  We had winds of 20 to 30 MPH with gusts of 50 MPH now and then. But today it was sun and 60º out, and 75º in the sun.

The highest wind we had in moving back in this area 15 years ago was 75 MPH.  All building in my area being built must hold up to 90 MPH winds.  In the last 3 months we hand gusts of 50 MPH off and on 3 times.  We can have winds at 1 MPH at 0700 and by 1300 have winds up to 40 MPH.  Being on the  Columbia River Gorge that is about 80 miles long.  We are on the very end that starts opening back up, to the East.

I been on the I S 14 doing 60 MPH and think some was wrong with my car as it slowed down to 24 MPH, I was just bucking the wind for about 10 miles.

The damn wind is still here. Last night we got down to 31 degrees, woke up at 3:00 and it 47 outside.
We'll be in the low 60s today, and for the next two weeks. We're getting one of those false springs, where all the crops buds out, only to get hit with a freeze, killing off the actual spring blooms.
Looks like it won't be a good year for the farmers. We still have another 8 weeks of winter, late Feb and March is our snowiest month, probably get hit with several feet of snow by the end of February.

This sucks! We're in one of those mid winter early Springs, where the temps are in the 60s and everything is starting to bloom.
It doesn't matter here in the Sierra, but the valley crops are going to take a beating. So if you have fruits or vegetables you like, better stock up on canned goods now, because the price is about to go up in a couple of months when there isn't but a few blossoms to be found.

We get this every now and again and it's always the same old story, whining on local news about crop failures.

I keep looking for the trees to start  budding out, but not yet.   When the sun is out it feels like 80º out in the sun.  But it 33º in the shade.   Night time is getting down to as low as 16º.  Not good on the old bones.
