My brother just moved to Az, tried to get me to buy desert land with him. I love the desert SW, but I love the change of seasons too.
Yeah, we usually hit the 3 digit mark in the summer months, when they hit 110 deg+ and scream global warming.
But as Walks will attest, it's a dry ass heat, so it really isn't all that bad out here, but the nights do cool off usually down in the 40s or 50s, while the valley gets down in the 60s to 70s.
When I was younger I loved your weather, now I physically can't handle it, my heart would give up.

What part of Texas are you in?
We're 50 miles northwest of austin, when the wind is just right you can smell the liberals. We retired six months ago and are moving to a small ranch we have near Lometa, Texas, about another sixty miles northwest, just as soon as the house is finished. Still not far enough north to see snow, but a good area to raise a few cows and grandkids. We still enjoy the Texas that exists outside of the cities, but that is disappearing fast, where one city ends the next one starts, or at least seems so. Well, here's hoping that the first norther is only four weeks away. Older I get, the more I enjoy wearing a coat.

I'm running between 50 and 70 º at night.  But remember I am less then 3/4 mil. from the Columbia river up 500ft..  So we start cooling off when the sun goes down over the hill, around 8 PM.  For us to have green grass 9 months out of the year I water my yard 3 full hrs. a day.  Like Solar we enjoy the change of seasons also.  In the A.M. my back deck can get up to 130+º from 7: to 9: A.M. a the sun also bounces off the river in two places along with the sun.  When you go out the back door it's like walking in to a wall of heat.
Just think of the poor farmers to the S/E of you, no river, rolling hills, little breeze and all the humidity coming off the hay fields.
I've driven through in the evening in the summer, had to run the air all the way through.
The Sac valley is miserable when the Delta breeze dies and the air gets stifling, muggy and hot.

I know what you mean!!! And Ca valley is the same way, there is no longer anyway to distinguish between towns, they just all blend together with a bunch of cookie cutter malls.
I moved to the Sierra to get away from the idiots, now they're moving up here, I'm seriously considering bailing on this Marxist shithole and heading North.

Even in my area if the A/C goes down on machinery, it is parked until fixed.  With all that glass around you the inside driving area can get very hot.  You can be in a Tractor or Swather from 6 A.M. until 8 P.M. and it be 80º to 100+º out side.  So you need A/C running all day long in everything in our area.

Just think of the guys 40 years ago, no cab, dust all around. Or even a 100 years back, mules pulling a plow. Farmers today are able to sit in their living rooms and drive the tractor via a lap top, drones survey the field.

We did not have air conditioning growing up, or at least it was not common until my early teens or preteens. When people went shopping, they left their windows down on their cars and trucks while they were inside the stores. Can't help but think we would have a whole lot less people down here if we could ban air conditioning again. In the name of global warming of course.

 Even in my area they will not let GPS or Drones run there equipment as too much could go wrong even in this day and age.  A new Swather can cost $220,973.00 USD + Tax.

Drive through the Sac or San Joaquin valley and that's all you see, no one in the cab, just a robotractor.

We can get down to 15º off and on, average 28 to 20 Late Dec, Jan and Feb.  Not bad as the sun is out most the time even in the Winter so it's dry cold.  We have been on this small 380 acres now for 13 years and the most we have been snowed in for is just over a month one year.  Most of the time it's about 2+ weeks at a time.

Farming has come a long ways from an open cab tractor with just a sickle bar.

Well, enjoying the end to summer Walks?
Froze my ass off last night because we still had the thin blanket on when this cold air drove in yesterday. We may hit the 30s tonight but should be warming back up later in the week to the upper 70, maybe 80s.
I still prefer a slower transition, but it looks like an early winter. My best guess is deep freeze this winter with temps below zero. It's been 30 years since the last one so we're due.
Remember how it drove down the coast out of Alaska and slowly crept in and stayed for over a week? :scared:

This week it calling for between 80º and 75º daytime and nights between 50's and 60º.  I can live with that for the next month and a half.  Last Winter we were hit hard off and on.  So I will be firing up the snow blower and checking it out soon.

Yeah, looking at the satellite images, it looks like the cold air is funneling in just below you and we're getting hit with the brunt of it. That could change though. It might just come your way.

Keep an eye on your forecast, looks like thunder showers coming your way, and much cooler. Anyway, that's what the satellite I'm seeing shows.
