Florence is turning out to be a very strange storm. As of this morning the projections have it slowing down and turning westward once it makes landfall. This is not the best case scenario as it will be moving over more population. Not good for us here in the NC mountains as it would put us on the north side of the system, Not expected to be a big wind event, but the ground will be saturated and trees could be toppled easier. Preparations and evacuations seem to be going smoothly in both Carolinas.

Hmmm, perhaps the cia deep state has access to some kinda hurricane manipulation device, (harrp)??? I dont remember obozo having to deal with these every year...

Here is the scientist Michio Kaku discussing wheather manipulation

Nothing wld suprise me anymore, tho such a device seems far fetched even to me.

What a nice day 75º, took the cat in and had her nail clipped.  What a nice drive did not need the AC.

Stopped at a grocery store.  Guess what, Oregon is pushing a tax on food again.     There have been 5 effort in 4 year to tax groceries in Oregon.

Well today is/was the start of Autumn or as we call it in the West Fall.

Ave. nights running 42 to 40º  Day time around 75º unless you in the sun.  I see some rain coming in late Oct. 1 and into Oct. 2.  The dry farmers will love that up on the high ridge.  The Roses are about done for the year.

As Oct. is just around the bend I will be getting Closer to being 100 years old.  Got my colonoscopy test back, they said I am ok down there or is it up there.     Doc. said I will have it done in three more years.  He was not happy I skipped it the last two years.  Why is it they always tell you the very last thing that you could die for this procedure.

Well the fires are out in Washington state, 4 going in lower Oregon yet.  Air is some what clean most of the time, just a dust storm now and then but this is farm country.   Two day of around 75º then it drops down into the mid to high 60º.  Night time will be hitting in the low 40º.  So it's time for checking out the heating system.  Along with closing up the vents under the house.

Will be checking out the backup generator, leaf blowers and snow blower.

We're about to see our first rain of the season, and if it does happen, the days highs will plummet to lat Fall temps the rest of the year.
Rain has that effect here.
That sucks, because I'm right in the middle of some serious roadwork with my dozer on the mountainside and if we get rain, the road will be screwed up all winter because I won't be able to finish it and leave huge rocks blocking the way..
That damn thing has what they call street tread, short treads and close together, fill with mud in seconds and down the mountain you go, sliding all the way.
I have shale and clay mixed with serpentine, and any work I do with that monster, turns this stuff into powder, with a consistency of talcum powder, just add water, and you have instant snot.

Hey, but at least the fire season will end and we can burn again.

No fires in Washington state and just one Oregon and it's new.

We have had rain for last 4 days, and I don't see any for the next 7 days.

Leaves are turning and should start dropping soon.  Fall is setting in big time.  I may only have to cut the grass for one more month.  I have cut the watering down to 15 min a day in all areas.  Last night it got down to 36º, most night look like in the high 30's to low 40's.  That makes for a nice day all around.

Yep, got half inch of rain, over a two day period, perfect to knock down the dust and quickly usher in Fall.
Leaves have been dropping since the first, though we only have a few maple and oak, the rest is fir, so leaves aren't really an issue.
Quit watering the garden and it's still producing well, but probably only two more weeks and it all gets tilled under.
Hard to believe winter will be 'here' in less than three weeks and then it's fires in the wood stove 24/7.

I hired a guy this summer to do a shitload of work, including cutting firewood, we now have around 20 cords. Yep, a mountain of madrone, tanoak, fir etc. :woot:

Well we will have rain shower off and on for the next 3 days, then sun again.  Lawn cut for the last time this week.  Water lines blown out for the Winter.   The leaves are half way down, will have 20+ MPH winds over the next 4 days.  So I hope most of the leaves will be down.  With the sun coming out for about 5 days next week it should dry the leaves out and I can blow them out of the yard with no problem.

This week I have one more birthday LOL and our anniversary 51 great years.  Time flies when your having fun.

We thank you.

I don't look for snow until mid or late December.  Most times just before Dec. 25. in time for Mary Christmas.

Neutral ENSO Conditions

Neutral El Niño-Southern Oscillation (ENSO) conditions are still present in the equatorial Pacific Ocean, but the Climate Prediction Center issued "El Niño" Watch is still in effect. ENSO forecast models favor weak El Niño conditions for the upcoming winter. Over the last 4 weeks, sea-surface temperatures (SSTs) have warmed across the equatorial Pacific. Probabilities of El Niño development are at 70% for both the November through January and December through February periods.

What does this mean for Washington in the coming months?

The expectation of El Niño development is evident in the seasonal forecasts from the Climate Prediction Center (CPC). The CPC November temperature outlook has higher chances of above normal temperatures for all of WA. The November precipitation forecast indicates increased chances of below normal precipitation for the entire state, with higher chances of below normal precipitation in eastern WA.

The CPC November-December-January (NDJ) outlook has increased chances of above normal temperatures statewide, with chances exceeding 50% on the three-tier system. For precipitation, there are increased chances of below normal precipitation mainly east of the Cascade crest. The rest of WA (western WA and the north central Cascades) has equal chances of below, equal to, or above normal precipitation.

Remember that these outlook percentages are based on a tercile system, and therefore the chances of below, equal to, or above normal temperatures or precipitation are split into equal probabilities of 33%. When there is a greater than a 33% chance of an occurrence, it should be looked at as a slight tilting of the odds in favor of that outcome.
