Well, it looks summer is about to finally hit. This week is heading into the upper 90s, I just hope it's a dry heat. :scared:

Summer has hit us, will be 96 on Sunday.   Cutting the grass every 3 or 4 days.  Corn should be Knee-High by the 4th of July in most areas, it is shoulder high around us.  This week they doing the second Cutting of Hay, so they will get four cutting this year.  My Walla Walla sweet onions are now the size of softballs now.  I put in 35 plants this year.

I see it's that time a year for fires.

3 put out in Washington and 2 new one started.  Oregon 3 put out and one new one.  California had about 15 fires and one evacuations ordered in California.

Not a good way for starting out the summer.

My net is back up and running after being down 3 weeks.  I am now getting just over 3 MB, that good in my area for WiFi.  My son came over with a T M Hot Spot that let me get back on line, now I remember what dial up speed was years ago.     He told me to keep it as a back up if needed, as our WiFi goes down off and on.

All those fires are mostly in the Western valley along the coast range, meaning, with North winds and offshore flow, the Bay Area is engulfed in smoke and ash.

In the next 10 days I see 100º or above 5 of the 10 days.  Night will be 65 to 70º.

The 4th is over and we only have 2 fires going.

Upper 90s for the week, but still no 100s in sight for the next two weeks.
The valley coast range on the East side has the Napa county fires, but that's over a hundred miles from me to the West.

We have smoke all around us.  3 fires in Washington 8 in Oregon and I see 2 just above you Solar.
Plus the big one going on down below you.

It was 115º in my front yard yesterday at 4 P.M.  It's call for 109º today.  Right now it's 86º in the shade in my front yard.  Not going to be a good week for clean air.

Yep, we too are engulfed in smoke, though it's really bad in the valley. And yes, they're in the 100s, we're in the mid-90s and the extended forecast says we'll be dropping steadliy, not once breaking 100 degrees all summer long.
In the last 20 years, every summer has been smoke filled, it didn't use to be that way, a lot of it has to do with stupid people moving to the forests.
These are all man made fires.

Rush had an interesting observation. Doesnt it seem that the vast amjority of forest fires are in the west? What about the east?

Well Rush pointed out that the majority of land in most western states is state owned in the form of national forests, preserves, etc. However, most wild land in the east is owned privatly for one use or another.

Rushes point is that private citizens do a way better job of managing the land, like removing fire hazards and building fire breaks, etc. Whereas the gvt follows a more leftist environmentalist path in keeping human interferance to an absolute mininum, even if that means more hazards.

It's true, the Fed is charged with care of the land, but all they really do is carry a heavy hand enforcing leftist law against the people who actually own it, us.
They do a piss poor job of maintaining the land, in fact, aside from law enforcement, they do virtually nothing. Sure, we have USFS fire stations, but coverage is akin to one man per 10 thousand acres +, so in essence, they're like fire police, instead of prevention, they're there for containment till backup shows up, and well, you can see from the 16 current blazes in Ca, just how well that's been working out.

Seems like this is an annual event now. The left gets to use this crisis every year

Bad environmental legislation does not allow the effective use of a huge amount of water to which there is unhindered access.
