looks like a week in the high 60's and 70's  coming my way.  May even have some rain around Sunday and Monday.  May help with all this smoke.

21 fires in Oregon yet and 9 in Washington state.

Same here. Nights are much cooler as the days have been in the mid 70s with showers daily, and with actual rain on its way today and later in the week.
Yep, early Fall and snowy winter.
I might even get a full cab enclosure for the RZR this month, it doesn't do any good to have a windshield when the snow blows in from every other direction.

Still in the low 50s, woke to a marine layer and light drizzle. I was hoping for clear skies and 70s, not this shit. :glare:
Looks like you're getting the same thing in your area, maybe heavier?
Either way, my summer attire of water shoes, shorts, and a T shirt might hit a quick end if this crap keeps up. It's downright chilly in the wind.

Hey Walks, I happened to notice the water temp in the Pacific seemed a bit warm after an El Nino event, so I did a little checking of historical numbers.
I always remembered the Pacific as freakin cold, in the 40s, but looking back at La Nina temps when the waters started cooling, we were closer to normal along the West Coast for weather, and when Elnino hit, we got shit loads of rain.

Point being, according to temp. data, we're still in Elnino, the warm water phase, meaning more heavy moisture, but historically, colder weather follows these drought breaking events with heavy snows.
If this is the case, it looks like record snowfalls over the Sierra and Cascade ranges, as well as low snow levels.
Can you say "Valley Flooding"? :scared:

Starting in 2006, because they don't have older records. Check out the first blue line for temp. in each consecutive chart. El Nino is still here.

Last year was the most snow in the 10 years that we been in Southeast Washington.  Last year was the first year the boys came in with the road grader, not once but twice and cleaned the road down the hill to the ST.RT. that runs along the Columbia river.  I was cleaning snow off the back deck almost everyday for over a month.  That or not be able to get out the back door for over two months.

I will check out the snow blower ahead of time then this year.  I just pick up a years supply of ethanol-free gasoline two weeks ago.  For the Quad, snow blower and generators.  I have 5 large RV propane tanks and two small tanks, I have one large propane tank that needs filled.  Will do that this week as it was on the BBQ up until last Friday night.

Well Friday, September 22 is the first day of fall.  The damn G-Cooling has set in.

High today is 61º right now.  My wife said she was cold, so I turned on the heat pump for the first time in I don't know how many months.  We had rail off and on the last 1.5 days.  The air has cleaned up again for now with rain and 20mpwind's.  It's been almost 2 months of smoke for us.  I hope the rains have helped the 19 fires in Oregon and the 6 in Washington state.  Washington state is down 3 from the last time I checked and Oregon is the same at 19 with 1 of them Contained at Potato Hill below Salem.

Look like 1 week of cooling, then back up into the high 70's and mid 90's until mid Oct.

Yep, same weather here, and rain tomorrow. Clear, cold and windy with snow along the crest.
Summer is over for me, now the cold nights, cool days and a jacket, I'm like Boo, I hate wearing pants.

  I have started wearing my very heavy jeans for Winter time.  Out cat of 16 years+ had to be put to sleep.  So we got a kitten about one month old from the humane society.   She runs a head of me and lays in waiting, then jump out at me and then climbs up my leg in play, so I have call her Boo.  She will out grow that soon but until then I have to protect my legs.  She now 2+ months old and has for the most part stop the leg climbing but sometime she forgets when she becomes a ball of fire going through the house at 4 A.M.

I'm sorry you lost your kitty, it's always tough losing a family member.
But I get why you called it Boo, knowing about that the leg crawling thing.

Just kidding Boo.
I'll be going now...

With two day of rain off and on.  Oregon is down to 15 fires and Washington is down to 5 fires.  I can now see the Blue Mountain that's about 85 miles away in Oregon.

Same here, though not out, more are contained and under control and burning themselves out.
And no doubt the biting cold is a welcome break for those on the lines.
Already built my first fire for the year a few days ago. Yep, in for an early winter, last year this time, we were in the 90s.

Well this sucks. Right now, cold with sprinkles, but come Sunday?

Alert:
...POTENTIAL CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS LATE SATURDAY
THROUGH MONDAY NIGHT...

.Gusty northerly or offshore winds will develop with warming and
drying conditions beginning Saturday over the northern and
western Sacramento Valley and adjacent foothills, then expand
southeastward late Sunday across portions of the Sierra Nevada
through Monday night. The combination of offshore winds and dry
day and night airmass may generate critical fire weather
conditions.

...FIRE WEATHER WATCH IN EFFECT FROM SUNDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH
LATE MONDAY NIGHT FOR GUSTY WINDS AND LOW HUMIDITY
The National Weather Service in Sacramento has issued a Fire
Weather Watch, which is in effect from Sunday afternoon through
late Monday night.

* WIND...Northeast winds 10 to 20 mph with gusts 25 to 30 mph
over exposed ridges and stronger through aligned canyons.
Strongest winds expected during overnight and morning hours.

* HUMIDITY...Daytime humidity of 15 to 25 percent with the main
concern being minimal humidity recovery overnight.

* IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.

Winter Forecast LaNina, Or not?
Ya gotta love it, they're predicting a possible return of LaNia by over 50%, which also means just under 50% it won't.
My prediction of having lived in Ca for over 6 decades, leads me to believe it's closer to a blending of LaNina and El Nino, somewhere around late December through february, where we'll experience cooler weather with increased moisture and relatively low snow levels in the Yellow Pine belt, but above normal snowpacks in the Alpine areas.

In other words, a transitioning Winter from heavy rains and high and heavy snow accumulations, to increased accumulations and lower snow levels along with above normal precipitation, gradually working our way to less and less precipitation over the following years.
This is Ca, we are a desert state, where drought is the norm, broken by a 7 to 10+ year (on average) cycle of above precip, breaking the cycle.

So what to expect? This will be our transitioning year followed by consecutive lessening moisture years till we finally end this drought cycle with another flooding Lanina season.
Our extremes in weather have zero to do with the left's claim of climate change, and everything to do with normal climate cycles.
What we really need to be concerned about is not the illusioned "Global Warming", rather another Maunder Minimum,  mini Ice Age which devestates crop production, heavy demand on fossil fuels, because there is no other option to get through a seriously long cold snap.
