It's my biggest fear every summer, that some moron will set the forest on fire near my property.
I have no doubt it will burn again, as it did 100 years ago, when the lumber mill caught fire just a quarter mile from my home and completely burned out the entire forest for miles in every direction.
Some trees survived and still show the scars, but they were few and far between. I hope I'm long gone when it happens.

Looks like your heat streak is finally coming to an end, and we're still in a reprieve from heat as well.
August is turning out to be cooler than July, which is not the norm, but I'll take it.

  I don't know yesterday was 101º and today is calling for 107º.
I do see it dipping down into the high 80's and low 90's starting around Sunday and Monday.

I do wish this damn smoke would clear out.  I do see Oregon is down to only 14 fires and Washington is down to 3 up above Spokane.

They have a Air quality alert in effect until 11 am PDT Saturday.   But like before that can be move out again.  The smoke cover has been keep the heat temperatures down some.  I would be happy to take the heat over all this smoke any day.  Was in town shopping yesterday, this time a year people would be talking about all heat.  By yesterday it was all about the smoke.

I saw that warning earlier on a new weather site I think might be a bit more accurate for my area.

The day time temps are closer to reality, but the night time temps are nearly 20 degrees too warm for here

Looks like a week under 100º coming our way.  Will be some scattered thunderstorms this A.M. but no rain.  The air quality alert will be allowed to expire midday today.       Right  we will only have 5 to 10 mph winds off and on.   There is 14 fires in Oregon yet and 3 in Washington.  I am starting to feel the air quality now, as this has been going on for sometime now.  I will check my AC filter today, with all this smoke I my need to change it before the end of the month.

You need air quality? I'll slice you off a chunk of mine, we can share it.

Uggg, I just woke up with a splitting headache, didn't sleep worth a piss because of the smoke, but as bad as the nights are, the days at least seem to clear a bit with a southerly breeze.

Looking at the satellite, it looks like you'll have a low passing through which might help stir the air a bit and hopefully pull in a northerly breeze.
I'm hoping it generates one for us as it passes, drawing air down from Canada/Idaho, less smoke.

We will hit the 80's for the next 3 days.  It call for a 74% chance of rain this A.M for about 4 hrs.  I did not see a drop.     But we have had 15 to 20 mph wind for the last 24 hrs.  Air quality is good but not great.  We are look at 5 to 10 mph for the most part of the week, so that will help even more as long as there are no more fires.

Same weather here, breezy, cool and dry, freakin great weather, spent the entire day cleaning up the campsite down at the creek.
When the creek rerouted through the camp, it left a huge mess of debris, but it was still too wet all summer to drive the tractor to clean it up.
It's all back to normal, rerouted the creek back to where it used to be, setup the tent and will spend next weekend down there camping and cooking.

Was able to work in the yard yesterday after noon as the smoke is clearing out.  6 A.M. and its 54º out side   I can now see the Blue Mountain range in Oregon that about 85 miles away.  With all this smoke about the best I could do outside is cut the grass it was so bad.

I don't know what older people do in smog ridden cities day in and day out.

I'm having weather shock, I'm freezing my ass off this morning with overcast skies and an increased humidity, the wind makes it feel like it's 30 outside.
Yeah, we got a reprieve from all the smoke as well. When my dad hit his 90s, they finally installed heat and air.
I said, about time dammit, he said: "It wasn't me, this city is getting more crowded and polluted with Bay Area libs, had to close up the damn house".
He may have had a valid point.

Well there is 16 fires in Oregon state and 6 in Washington state.  But the air has been good of late.  We have had good winds in our area, with fires over 5 to 6 hrs. away.

We are looking for some hot days in the 100's off and on through mid September.  That is typical for us around this time a year.
