Doesn't look allthat great for your area.

There is no rain relief in the near future. However, the firefighters continue to make progress. I played golf today and when we were finishing the wind had changed and it really became smokey again.

You never get used to it, you can only hope for moderate days with a breeze.
We've had years where fire season went from April through December during dry years, and not that the fires are big, but that there are so many of them that the whole West coast suffers depending on which way the wind blew that day.

There was a year when a fire in Washington State nailed us through all July and August with smoke during the day, laid down at night but woke you up to smoke.
I've watched satellite images of Ca fires inundate Canada with smoke, knowing just how they felt.
Biggest issue is with bigger fires, they contain it just fine, but then let it burn itself out which can take weeks.
Hope you get a break soon, it can really wear on you.

People talk about earthquakes being a problem out her, well it has nothing over the devastating power of a fire.

I agree. Even though containment is improving it will take time for them to burnout. This is very unusual as we normally get rain every few days, but not this year. Less than one inch here since the first of September.

I see the NE is getting hit with snow up to 18 to20" with more coming.  It's that time a year for them.

We were supposed to get light showers today, but in 2 hours, we've already gotten 2" and more on it's way through to December.

We lucked out going over, it starting raining about 50 miles before the pass.  The tem did not get below 35º and it looked like it was snowing at about 5000'.  But the road were just wet, same on the way home.  But it had snowed the night before coming home as there was snow on the side of the road.

Like always it rained all day Wed, Thr and Friday on the Westside.  I don't think there was anyone but me on the Westside that had on Winter tires on.  LOL  They were all driving like damn fools like always.  Ever one tailgates over there at 50 mph, leave a hole the size of my big Dodge and they would whip right in.   It's great to be back on the Eastside of the state, that when you turn on your turn signal some one will back off and let you in.    I love the slow life!

I've been watching Idaho to see what the weather is like in a given area so I know what I'm buying into, and I found this app to be rather helpful, all states seem to have similar version.

It's great for traveling as well.

Thanks. What is encouraging is the rain chances for next week have increased for the last two days. Keeping our fingers crossed to system is strong enough to get over the western mountains without breaking apart.

Forecasters are calling for 2 to 3" of rain directly on the fires, let's hope they get it right for a change.

The firefighters have done a heckuva job. With all the acreage burned, not one structure has been lost in NC. Of course, most of the affected areas are in remote mountainous terrain.

I received 7/10" of rain overnight and more expected tonight and tomorrow. The fires in WNC are pretty much contained and this rain is really helpful. The fires around Gatlinburg, about 100 miles west of me, are a surprise. Many structures have been damaged and 1000's have been evacuated. Hope the rain helps them.
