MT. HOOD, Ore. -- Several inches of snow fell up at Timberline Lodge over the weekend,

I see Timberline Lodge at MT Hood Oregon had it first snow fall this year.
Yeah, the snow level was pretty high, but we still got more than a foot over the crest and passes.
I hope this pattern holds. There would be more water than the reservoirs can handle and they'd still claim drought because of AGW, when in fact, there just isn't enough storage for all the new illegals in the state.

It's that time a year.  Forecasters are predicting a La Niña event in the Pacific Ocean.

I wish I remembered his name, but a Ca meteorologist predicted two years ago that after the drought busted in 2016, that we'd have a very wet end to 2016, a wet start to 2017, ending in a La Nina freezing winter with lots of snow due to residual moisture from the El Nino.
So far looks like he's on target.
Only problem for us, is these events stop just 20 miles to the South of us, so our weather can be extremely radical and hard to predict.
Sometimes we get the full brunt and more from a storm, while other times, it drifts to the north about 5 miles and misses us completely, but what never fails us are the thunderstorms that form over the crest of the Sierra, where it's sunny, or foggy in the valley, and rainy/snowy at our place for days on end.

We are surrounded by fires. The air quality is terrible and very unhealthy. We are over 10" below average in rain for the year and had less than one inch since the first of September. It is the worst I have ever experienced. Little or no rain expected this week. I need to blow some leaves, but it was uncomfortable for me to walk from the car to the grocery store yesterday.

We're having the complete opposite finally. The last few years we too were plagued by some and fires and little rain, but this Fall we're at 525% above normal rainfall, yet still experiencing sunny days in the 70s, when we should be in the 40s with drizzle.
Not complaining, just marveling in breaking records with nice weather for a change.
Next week looks like normal Fall weather will finally make it's entrance.

Stay safe young man.

I live in Eastern Washington the Columbia Basin area also know as the desert area of the state.  We get most of our rain/snow in Nov, Dec and Jan.  Month to Date we now have  0.20' of rain.  Average for this month is about 1.22".  We start getting snow around Dec. 20 most years.  Precip for Dec is around 1.34".

Did you mean the air was so smokey, that it made it hard?

I bought a particle mask, cheap works, but I spent the money on a good one with changeable filters, and what a difference it made on the smoke.
It was like living in a fire for three weeks (sometimes 10' visibility) when we had an out of control fire just a few miles away that they couldn't fight due to terrain, so they had to let it burn.
It's like living in a constant downpour, only it's smoke, where you run from the truck to the house because you can't breathe, dread going outside for anything because of the smoke.

The air is very smokey and makes breathung difficult and I do not have breathing strategies. The wind is calm so the smoke settles in the valley's. That is a mixed blessing as lack of wind helps the firefighters.

I avoid the smoke at all costs because back when I was fighting fires in the 80s, I got smoke from poison oak on me, and ever since that day, if poison oak is burning, and I get just a bit of smoke, I break out all over.
Sadly fires are in the summer and I'm forced to wear clothes with elastic in the cuffs as well as a respirator and hat. Simply miserable, and Ca has fires all summer long up and down the state.

Well Winter is just around the corner.  We had our first night under 30º last night, tonight looks like the same.      Grass has been cut for the last time this year.  Leave are all blown but one tree that always holds on for two or three week every year.

Our neighbors dog had no problem going into our garage for the night as they are gone for two weeks.  When their gone he comes over and stays with us.  They will be going South for the Winter for 2 or 3 months again, so we will move his bed and food into our garage until they get back.  We keep our garage at 70º for the Winter so he like it in there at night.  He's a farm dog and just will not go into the garage until it night time, unless I am working in there.  If I go to the door he right there to make sure he get out in the day time.

It's in all the mountain passes off and on in our state.  I also see it on the very high tops off and on in the Blue Mountain range.  The Blue Mountains is outside our dinning window, about 85 miles away in Oregon.

Same here. I flew my drone up near the snow line yesterday, it's about 8 miles away, though it's just a dusting, it gets much deeper across the crest about 20 miles away.
I expect to see a lot more snow in a few days, probably within a mile of the house where the elevation is around 5000'.
I expect a lot of snow this year. :glare:

We are getting snow on the passes at 3022' and below.  Does not look good for going to Tacoma Washington for Turkey day.  So I think we will get a Hotel and go over the day before and for the night of Turkey day, and come home on Friday. That way we can take our time and not have a lot of traffic.
