I've gotten an inch an hour since midnight. What drought?

Month to Date  0.53"    Sunday was only  0.22"  Jan is our wet month.      Then it's down hill from there.

Nearly 70 out and sunny, will be for more than the next week, grass coming up like Spring.
Unfortunately when we've had this during an El Nino year, it means an extended winter by several weeks. :glare:

Sun is out running 50º daytime and 30º nights.  Grass is brown so I should be good for one more month before I start watering.   La Nina is on the way, I see a lot less 105º+ coming my was this year.  The wife is sitting on the back deck in the sun reading a book.

My grass never goes brown, just quits growing in the winter, stays green all year long, even after solid freeze, or heavy frost.

Grass is turning brown.
With the assistance of Roundup.
We're replacing the lawn for spring, needs more top soil, so I thought I'd start from scratch.

Oh, and it's in the 70s outside, windows and doors open.

Well, it's just past midnight and 10 degrees Fahrenheit outside. Had a light dusting of snow but salt on sidewalks forestalled any shoveling, so all is well, just keep extra layers of clothes handy.

Hmm... "salt on sidewalks" that not good for a concrete sidewalk.  Or the grass.

That's the way I would do it.

I think our trees will start budding out in about 2 week.

Only if you use the cheapie sodium chloride.  Our sidewalks are 100 years old.  We use the more expensive potassium chloride.  It is much less caustic.

Our curbs are the original granite marble.  They are really high...makes it easier to dismount your horse.  Our neighbor around the corner still has one of the horse poles that you tied reins to while visiting someone.  The street were lined with them at one time, but one by one they were removed.  They were a pain in the neck to mow around.

I wrongly generalized. It's magnesium chloride, "Less stressful on the concrete," sayeth She Who Must be Obeyed. As for the grass, let the clover win, it's easier to mow.

LOL Give my love to N.

I would not know about clover being easier to mow, I don't have it in my yard.       City people love to walk barefoot through the grass when they come out.

If I had city people visiting my property, their first concern should be how much I can get for the gas I siphon from their tanks as I overcharge them for running barefoot across my lawn.

No, I take that back. It's ten degrees above freezing zeroand if city people want to run barefoot through light snow on my yard, then let them. I'll even donate pails of water to rinse down with after their romp. I need the upper arm exercise, emptying pails at high speed.

I have a thousand Henny Youngman jokes to fit this occasion, but the truth here is, it took me seven years of pleading before she married me and we have been together now nearly twenty years. I don't drag her into this stuff, much, mainly because she's too smart to get mired in partisan politics. I, unfortunately, am not.
