Looks like our 100º weather is done for the year.  We will be in the high 80's to 90's + for this month.  Then in Oct. start dropping down into the 70's and low 60's at the end of Oct.   Will look it bring out our winter thing the first of Nov. and put away the summer thing.

Yep, we checked out our central heat this morning to make sure it is firing on all cylinders!!  Got that usual smell of burning dust on the burner!

Same here, they're calling for 106 in the Sac. valley tomorrow and Friday, then cooling down as we head into Fall.
We've been in the mid 40s during the night, so Fall is right around the corner, should be seeing frost before the month is out.
That means no more bugs of any kind.

We hit 40º last night, and will be in the 80º for the next four days.  I my have to cut back on my watering.  I am looking for more rain this year then snow.  We generally get our first snow about the third week in December.  Today we had about 30 woodpeckers come through our yard all at once.  Most we see is 1 or 2 off and on through out the year.   My cat was running from window to window having a fit.

Had a nice soaker over night, just a half inch of tropical rain out of Hawaii. It was around 56 degrees and now 70 out with rain.
We are way ahead of the season so far, if this pattern continues, we could see snow in Nov. :scared:

We will have plenty of rain to share over the next few days. A week ago we were almost 8" below normal. Over the last week we have gotten about 6" and the forecast is calling for anywhere between 7"-12". That is going to create some serious flooding issues in the valleys. I am awaiting the stories about idiots trying to drive through high water on the roads.

Shut off the yard watering system this last Tuesday.  Cut the grass on Thursday.  To day we blow out the yard watering system for the Winter.  Or I would be cutting grass in December.     Leaves are turning yellow big time all around.   Looking to be cleaning up all the leaves by the end of the month.

Will fire of the snow blower around the end of November and make sure there no problems, if it's needed this Winter.  Will bring in 40 gal. of gas for the blower, generators and quad this month, that should get me through up until the first cutting of grass in the Spring.

We will start dropping down to the mid 30 at night starting next week.   So will fire of the heater for the first time and make sure it's running ok on Sunday.  Also close the outside vents for under the house for the Winter.

Sounds about the same as us, with the exception of having the woodstove fired up for he last couple of weeks.
Fall just hit yesterday as the leaves finally started coming down, well, what few trees we have that have actual leaves and not cones.

Two inches of rain in the last 24 hours, which puts us at 5" for the new year, about 150% of normal, yet guess what the local news hype for news?
Yeah, you got it, they rant on how it's not nearly enough to dent the drought.

Jeeez, it only just started, we're above normal, and these morons refuse to let a good crisis die, and come next Spring after a way above average rainfall season total, they'll claim we're still in a drought, I guarantee it.

Sunday and Monday we had 10 to 20mph winds off and on, and a lot more leaves came down.  Wednesday we have 30 and 40mph winds and so 99% are all off but for one tree, it always the last one.  They should start dropping by the end of the month.  With the 30 and 40mph winds I fired off the leaf blower and had all the leaves blown out of the yard and over the bank in about 1.5 hrs.

I can always count on the winds from the WSW this time a year to help in cleaning all the leaves out of the yard.  Got done and about 2 hrs. later the rain started in, so I timed everything just right.

The rain came in about 2hrs before they said it would.  Could be we had more 40 then 30mph winds most of the day.  Even at that we hit 60+º from about 10 A.M. on, but it is starting to drop now.  The wife ask me what I put in my coffee as I was having a hard time walking in the yard some time.

Need to fire off my generator's and snow blower so I won't need them again this winter.      I need to get my studded tires put on.   I also need to check my tire chains so there set if I need them.  I have not put chains on in over 60 years.

As my net went down 14 hrs ago I am posting this now.
