Well it was 100º today and we has a light rain shower.   So I grabbed my soap and towel and went out for my monthly show.  There calling for thunderstorms tonight.  I may get to see a light show even.   :woot:

I don't think we will see a day under 85º the rest of this month and all of next month.   Most will be 90º or above.  My neighbor has 15 tractor running this time a year.  If the AC is not working right he shuts them down until there up and running again.  His boy can have them back up and running in about 20 min.

Back East there taking about 90º for the next 3 day.
Today will be 104º
Friday 107º
Sat     106º
Sun    104º
Mon    100º

But then ours will be a nice dry heat.

In north Texas we are bumping up against 100 degrees almost every day now.... haven't yet breached 100.

And it won't get any better for at least a month.  The dog days of August are upon us!!!   :scared:

We have been between 90º and 114º for the last month and an half.
Next month looks about the same for us.  The farmers that are not growing corn have put in there second crop for the season about 3 weeks ago.

Those are miserable temps, walks.  Reminds me of my days in the Saudi desert.... where we reached temps of 125+ degrees.  It was downright inhumane!  All you could do was hole up in an AC building all day and wait for the season to pass.  Swimming pool water was too hot to enter... even though it was covered with a huge canopy.

It made me wonder how the Bedouins survived!  They stayed in their tents and suffered.

No monsoon activity?  They've been reporting flash flooding and dangerous thunder storms down here in the foothills and high deserts.

WHY don't they divert it and make a lake that they can use the water as needed?  I am sure they can truck it as needed.

Sorry forgot you were a lib state.

That would be too easy.  But we do have some lakes.  In the areas where we're getting this rain there is Arrowhead, Big Bear, Hemet, Cachuma, Casitas, Silver Wood, Piru and the Kern river.  There are others too.  I would hope some of the runoff makes it's way to these lakes.

No, but it is clouding up a bit though we're still at 11% humidity, and it looks like the moisture is holding at Modesto.
If we get it, it usually comes in the backdoor from Reno, spills over the Sierra and builds into thunderheads, which it still might do.
I kind of hope not, that would increase the humidity, my bane of contention.

You guys need the moisture more than we do, glad to hear you're finally getting some.

How are you and Toy doing with all the reports of fires that I'm seeing on the news?  Is that anywhere near y'all in the mountains?

It has been 95 deg. and up here for nearly  2 weeks now and forecasted to get hotter with little if any rain.  Then, i was in the kitchen this afternoon and heard a terrible racket like wind whistling around the windows like it does in the winter sometimes.  Looked out just in time to see the neighbor's flag pole bend over and hit the ground.  One of my lawn chairs was sailing across the deck and stopped by the railing.  Whew, was it ever raining!  We needed it and then some.  After about 10 minutes it was over but I never did hear any thunder or see any lightening.  Weird

Toto, were not in Kansas anymore.
Nah, luckily we're no where them this year, though we do get the smoke.

The weather turned beautiful the last couple of days, nights in the upper 40s, to highs in the upper 70s, and dry, like 3% humidity dry.
We know that one day a fire will come through, it's just the gamble of living in a paradise, much like you knowing one day a tornado will probably come through, but still risk it for the benefits of where you live.

Though, the benefits of living in paradise are getting fewer nd fewer, with Satan ruling over our domain.

Lessee now, the other day i was listening to some report on earthquakes by Fox and they were talking about "the big one to come" maybe as much as a 9.2 quake and not along the San andreas fault line but along some mountain range(?) called something like Cascades or something similar.  Anyway, there have been some studies on this one and it is said to be able to take out several towns and several thousand people if it decides to hit.  What are your thoughts on this one?  This event would run thru the upper part of your locale, possibly taking out many towns.  Wouldn't it be nice if we could somehow know way ahead of the actual event and send all the illegals up there?
