Oh, wow, that is very hot.  We used to get those temps in the Saudi desert but I did not know it got that hot anywhere in the U.S..... except maybe Death Valley.

My aunt and uncle lived in Pasco, Washington.  They both died last week.... five days apart after 65 years of marriage..... sad but probably good.

Are you far from Pasco?

That's about 65 miles from me.   I go into Pasco about once every two months.  It's part of the tri cities area Pasco, Kennewick and Richland.  I shop most of the time in Kennewick.  But also shop in Pasco and Richland off and on.

I have been up there in Pasco several times.   Many moons ago (I was a baby) my grandparents lived in Grandview.  That is when my aunt married a local boy from Sunnyside.  My grandparents returned to their roots in Arkansas but my aunt and her husband stayed in that area where he finally Pastored a church in Pasco for decades.

Therefore we periodically trek to Pasco to visit my aunt and uncle.  I think their three grown kids live in Kennewick.

Back when my husband and I lived on the road in our Motorcoach we traveled all over that part of Washington..... even went up to the Coulee Dam.   But we really liked Couer D' Alene, Idaho!  We spent several July 4 holidays there.

I knew it gets hot in the NW.   But not 135+ degrees!  That is viciously hot.   :scared:

My son asked me this morning about normal temps in our part of SC when I was growing up.  I haven't researched what the norms were but can remember the hottest summer we had.  The high temp rarely went above 96deg and I never remember the temp being over 100deg.  The temps this week alone will be at or above 100deg and it'll feel like 106deg or even higher.  The problem with that high temp is the ever lingering high humidity and with it the deaths reported because of the heat.

Thanks for that info, key..  I remember summers being hot when I was a kid but we did not have air conditioning back then.  Makes a huge difference!

In my currently location in north Texas we seldom have temps above the mid to low 90s and the humidity isn't so bad most of the time.  And since we do not normally have severe winters, I consider it to be an ideal location weather wise.  We looked at living in Florida but the humidity is a killer in the summer months!!!

I love the mountains, but most mountainous areas have severe winters IMO.

So, here we are in Texas!!

It only gets that hot on my back deck for 2+ hrs.  When the sun is no longer bounces off the river in two places.  It drops down to normal, what ever normal is for that time a day.

So, here we are in Texas!!

We live about 7.5 miles from the NC line.  The area here is in a beautiful full view of the Smokie Mountains.  My husband was born in Sylva NC, right in the heart of the Smokies.  We take most of our vacations there just to relax.  My folks moved here from Madison County NC. in an area known as Spring Creek (can't get any further back in the sticks).  Winters in both those area are brutal and the humidity is ever as bad there as it is here.  Winters are not that bad here.  The most terrible thing we have here is ice storms but, thankfully, not that many.

The Carolinas are indeed beautiful but my allergies are horrific there (as well as in Virginia)!!

If not for that, we might have picked that area to retire.

Anywhere West of the Rockies hit's 100+.
Drove 500 miles through desert yesterday hit Idaho hoping it would cool down from the 100+ the entire drive, but nope, 104 which broke all records, supposed to hit 109 today.

What sucks, is Ca is cooling down, Sac valley to hit 112 then start cooling down, while all this week will be well over 100 in Idaho.
Talk about bad timing :glare:
We're heading north to the Canadian border today, but I've no doubt we'll be hitting another hotel tonight, sleeping outside on 80 deg weather ain't happening.

The lowest it got last night for us was 70º.  Calling for 111º to day.   Are you in the truck or car?  My truck A/C will not keep up with the heat with the big windows.

Truck....  And Toy is freezing.

I have had my truck in twice and they say the system is working great no problems.  But after running for about 1hr. I have to shut it off for about 4min and let the fan blow and unfreeze it.  Then it good for about one more hr.

I'd say the condenser evaporator is failing, my ElCamino had that problem. But you're right, my truck takes at least 15 minutes to cool the cab down, while Toy's Forester is cool the second you turn it on, freezing you out within 3 minutes..

They are predicting the same here, which is way above normal, even breaking all time records for Idaho.

Well, wonders never cease and the weather bureau finally got it right for us today.  We were promised a very nice day here today with temps returning to normal for our area.  They were actually better than normal with a high of only 85 deg.  Absolute wonderful weather and after church we cooked outside on the grill.  No problem with weather this nice and it is supposed to continue for a few days with low humidity.

We hit Moscow Idaho yesterday afternoon, 112 degrees at 5:00 PM. :scared:
We're headed for the Canadian border this morning, but I can only surmise Canadian' are suffering this heat as well, while records drop across the west.

I've been to Moscow, Idaho before and it can get very hot there.  Best I remember it is in a low elevation that tends to trap the heat in it.  We had a big RV rally there and it was hotter than thunder!!

As you move on north it is bound to improve some.  If you are doing any camping there is a terrific RV and camping park on an island in the lake at Coeur d'Alene.  July 4th is always a lot of activity there..... a Triathlon, terrific fireworks, and tons of entertainment.
