If I didn't have a calender, I'd swear it was Spring. We hit the 70s under clear skies, had to open the house up, got too hot inside.
Supposed to hold for the next couple of weeks. I hope this isn't one of our false Springs, where we have beautiful weather in the winter, only to wind up with an extended winter and miss most of spring, and going directly into summer.
.

Today was 60º for us, for the next 10 days it is calling for 45º and above.  It is hanging in at 30º or below at night.  I see some flower buds starting to popping up like last year.   So I will have to put them in the garage.  We have 1.5 months of Winter yet.   :scared:    We were cutting alfalfa in the third week of March last year.

Best we are doing is about 50º but it is nice in the sun.  Night time is around 26 to 28º.  Cannot complain as I don't have to water or cut the grass yet.

Yep, 28 out as I write, but will warm up another 40+ deg. by 11:00.
Getting a ton of work done outside, pushed over a bunch of 100+' Doug firs and madroña over to make way for our underground cellar.
If it were raining out, the dozer would be stuck in clay mud, so this weather is perfect to work in considering the ground is just moist enough to dig in, because once summer sets in, this clay ground becomes Sierra cement

Douglas-fir is not bad for fire wood, medium heating with not much ash I have found.  Good for Spring or Fall when you don't need much heat at night.

That's pretty much our primary fuel to heat, runs us out of the house if the stove isn't on low all the time.
But these trees won't be fire wood, my brother is bringing over his mill to make some lumber for decking, and he wants a couple of 12x12 20' beams for his shop.

Ya know, I really hate taking these trees out, considering most are well over a hundred years old, but I need a fire break, this may be one of our worst fire seasons yet considering were now in drought stage.
I need the fire buffer around the house.

We had a dusting of snow sometime last night.  When I look out the window at 4 A.M. it was all white, and gone by 9 A.M.   Will I ever get to use that new snow=thrower.

I took this picture Friday.  We were at one of the local car dealerships.  That's Solar under the canopy - notice the misters running to try and cool it down.

TboneAgain

I swear, much more of this global warming shit, and I'll freeze my ass right off.  :tounge:

While you kids are enjoying your freak winter out west, we're diggin' ours here in the Heartland too! In my part of Ohio, we broke the freezing mark rather unexpectedly when the temperature shot up nearly twenty degrees in less than two hours late in the afternoon. As midnight passed, we were hovering near 40 degrees -- rather amazing since it had been in the low single digits just 12 hours earlier.

But then along came 1:30 a.m., and the bottom dropped out. It looked like this:

As I write this, our local temp is about 7 degrees and still falling slowly. Our expected overnight low is -15, and tomorrow's forecast "high" is -2. We've experienced local power blackouts, not as a direct result of the weather, but as an indirect result as substations are overloaded with unexpected high power demands.
