This A.M. about 6 it was calling for 100º and Chance of rain 10%.

  at 100º it not even hit the ground.  At 8:00 A.M. my back deck was 140º from the sun coming off the river.   Look like we will stay in the three digit until Friday the 5th, then drop down into the 90's.   We have a 8 to 12 mph wind so that make it nice. (for me)  Other call it a heat wave, when you open the door it feels like your hitting a wall of heat form a blast furnace.  The cat goes out in the morning with me when I go out for my morning coffee and watch the world go by.  Today she walk out with me and got about 10' and headed back to the door and was looking to get back in the house.   She was having nothing to do with 140º.
Yes it's simply miserable, we had three days of rain right before this hit, so the humidity mixed with 100+ is literally unbearable, luckily we have a creek at the bottom of the property, so we're headed down shortly.
At least the nights cool down to the 50s.
They say it should start cooling down by Wednesday, I hope....

Well we will be out of the three digit temps as of today.  Will be in the 90'sº for the next 10 days.  This was not even our hot month for the year.     As it cools down we may have some thunderstorms to go along with the 4th.  No fireworks in our area.  Boardman across the river in Oregon will have some.  They about 5 miles away.  So we can sit out on the back deck and see the fireworks.  We are about 600' above them so we will have no problems seeing them.   The river is more then a mile wide at that area that they shoot the fireworks over.   So it will be  on the back deck for the night of the 4th.

Looks like we will be in the very high 90º even 100º off and on for the next week.   Then drop down into the 90's.  Hit 101º at 5:25 today and that was not in the sun.     Farmers are loving it, they did their second cuttings in the fields all this last week and into this week.  Along with there second planting for this year, that needs to be in by the end of this week.  Going to be some long 10 to 15 hrs. days this week.   The Walla Walla Sweet Onion are coming on big time.

Hmm...  I grill all year around outside even in a foot or so of snow.   But then 51º Fahrenheit is cold for summer.  What your night time temp on the average this time a year?

Ohhh, that sucks.
Like Walks, I too grill year round with a ton of snow on the ground, though you really have to adjust cooking times a bit.

The kids and grandkids are gone now so I cut my grass today.  98º and it took 1 hr.  The riding lawnmower put out a lot of heat on a day like this.

For all of you who may engaged in activities in this current heavy wave, I want you to HYDRATE!

I am speaking from very recent experience. Be very serious about fluid intake. If you get tired of water, use lemonade.

Please be careful on this issue.

I always have a quart of water with ice, so the ice melts as the day goes on.  I keep 4 jug in the freezer at all times half full.  All I do is add water when I go outside over 50º.  It's good for 3 hrs. when 90º out.  I also have a small ice machine in the house all it does is make ice.    Also a refrigerated cold water drinking fountain in the shop.

Solar, looks like some cooling coming our way.  Down into the low 90º and mid 80º then back up into the high 90º.  The clouds are holding the heat in at night.

We also had a big fire in Washington also about 50 miles a the crow flies from us.  So add that to Oregon and you have smoky overcast all around.   I see the wind will be coming out of the South some so that should help you in a day or so.
