Amazing isn't it? We're supposed to get record rainfall.
But what really sucks, is the 100 deg. temps to follow. :scared:

Well that was a bust, though we are still getting steady rain, accumulations are light, around 1", and we actually had to build a fire yesterday, Summer, and we're building fires?

We got around ¾" of rain in the last two days.  This time a year it is normally around 80º to 90º outside and the A/C running 24/7 for the wife.  The dry farmers up on the high ridge (Horse Heaven Hills) are loving it.   Everyone is out with their box scraper working there gravel driveways.  Most of us limit speed at 15 mph on our gravel driveways, as they are up hill and last longer between  grading of the drive way.

We too have  a gravel road, and one idiot neighbor has screwed it up so badly, that yesterday I had to get the tractor out and push the UPS truck out of the mess, then as I was heading back to the house, a neighbor slid into the forest, so I had to pull her out back up on the road.
This rain made a mess of everything, the dust on the road turned into pure snot.

I keep forgetting that the rain doesn't soak into the soil (ground) like in Oregon and Washington.  Just a little rain makes mud all over.

Yeah, our ground has to be wet first for water to absorb, when it's dry, it's rock hard clay, but moist, it expands and creates pours that suck up the water.
I think it's probably wet enough now, that is, now that the rain quit.

We have a lot of sand mixed in with our dirt in areas, so if it rains a lot we have run off problems on the driveway.  The neighbor keep about 60 yards of gravel on hand at all time for run off problems.  There are 4 of us that use the main driveway up the hill.

This A.M. about 6 it was calling for 100º and Chance of rain 10%.

  at 100º it not even hit the ground.  At 8:00 A.M. my back deck was 140º from the sun coming off the river.   Look like we will stay in the three digit until Friday the 5th, then drop down into the 90's.   We have a 8 to 12 mph wind so that make it nice. (for me)  Other call it a heat wave, when you open the door it feels like your hitting a wall of heat form a blast furnace.  The cat goes out in the morning with me when I go out for my morning coffee and watch the world go by.  Today she walk out with me and got about 10' and headed back to the door and was looking to get back in the house.   She was having nothing to do with 140º.
