We are lucking out with really decent temps. Touching 80 by day 60 by night.  I think we are catching a break.

I saw that and thought it looked like the valley temps I experienced in Sacto years ago. :scared:
We're heating a bit, but no 100's this week and cooling later in the week.
Looking at land in Alaska I see upper 80s is the norm there as well, I guess aside from the Arctic, there's just no escaping it, and yes, I looked to see if land was available there too.

I have live in Montana and Idaho in my younger days.  I think if I were 60 years younger I would be looking at Alaska.

Prices are great, but believe it or not, Alaska is a liberal pit, all across the state. Nanny laws up the ass, especially Palin's home of Wasilla, or should I saw WUSSilla?

That is what happens when every citizen is on the public dole.

Yep, sad, and they vote for more money, in turn, growing govt and its death grip on their daily lives.
Too bad, such a huge and beautiful state, yet nearly half the people work for the govt in some capacity or another.
Yeah, they vote selfishly.

Between Washington and Oregon we have 9 fires going.  So we are getting a lot of smoke.  We have one fire about 35 miles away but it is now contained.

  https://gacc.nifc.gov/nwcc/information/firemap.aspx

The three large spraying portable water tankers are full and set if needed it's that time a year.  There also 2 miles of fire hose that can be moved around as needed.  As this is farming land there is about every 1.2 miles a place for high pressure water hose hook ups all around for 30 miles.

Our number has finally dropped to less than 30. In the last decade, smoke is the norm anymore, seems like only the stupid are left in Ca and too stupid to be allowed to possess fire.
I guess the Dim Legislature will have to pass laws banning fire unless you take a class and apply for a permit, and that's just to own a lighter.
I swear, at the rate this state keeps burning, there won't be anything left to burn.

Finally, a reprieve from the heat, 69 and sprinkles and probably won't reach the 80s today.
But that Damned smoke is relentless, hopefully, the cool damp air will be enough for the firefighters to get the upper hand on the fires.

Does not look good more fires.  So that's 16 fires that are not Contained  in Washington and Oregon as of now.

I would say there are 4 within 150 miles of you in Oregon.   10 in all in Oregon and 6 in Washington.

I'm pretty much surrounded, so regardless of wind direction, it'll be smokey for the next month at least.
I remember years where we never got a break till the first rain in November.
Makes one wonder if Muscum figured out something... :sneaky:
