They have called for sun for the last 2 days, also for the next 4 days.  But all I see is fog.  The trees are full of fuzzy white ice.  It would be nice to get out of this GW 6º night time and 10º day time temps.  But I do love the snow.

It's nice I don't have to go some place with all this snow other then check my neighbors house and work shops.   One is 3/4 a mile away and the other 1.5 miles away for water problems.   I get to play on my quad going both ways.

We finally broke out into sun today, after nearly 18' of rain, next 4 days will be sunny in the low 40s, and come next Wednesday, it starts all over again, possibly a repeat of the last system.
Though this one is supposed to have more snow below 6000'. Some places got 20' of snow, while the average was about 10' according to local news.
I like the snow, I just hope it stays under a couple of feet.

At the most all we got was 2' in all to date.  Not counting the snow drifts.  This year the snow thrower paid for it's self.

Yes most of the time it only last 3 to 5 days at a time.  Then it good for 2 or 3 weeks in the high 30 or low 40º.  This is the first year I don't know when I will get into town.  But other then fresh vegetables we are set for 3+ months, well a year if needed.

Yeah, I was tickled the cold snap receded to your neck of the woods. I hate when my road freezes up and there is no way to drive out safely. Even the rippers on the tractor just bounce off.
Pipes all freeze, animals water dish freezes solid foot thick and has to be put on the woodstove every day, burn three times the normal amount of wood.
No thanks, but it looks like snow next week, so all bets are off. :glare:

Ice Storm Warning in effect until 10 am PST Wednesday...

It's 22º out now and it's calling for 1" of ice pellets .  We will have GW today also as it calling for 39º today.    It's also calling for day time rain over the next 2 or 3 days.  So there will be flooding on the West side of the Cascade mountain range in the low lands.  As that snow water will all be going down downstream.

Why people will build a home in a low land flood area I will never know.   It like building a house next to the airport that been there for years and complaining it's making too much noise.

That just sucks! No ice here just rain and snow and more valley flooding for the flatlanders.

Snow knocked out the satellite, and hope it stays on through tomorrow when it really hits.
Calling for a few feet, so I may be out most of the day.

You and ST Stay safe!

I am now seeing Ice Pellets as an Advisory over the last two weeks.  Is this something new?  Or has this old fart just been missing it all these years.      It call for 6 hours of Ice Pellets last Wednesday night from about 2300 to 0500.  When I did go out side there was a sheet of clear ice 1/4" thick on the sidewalks and pad in front of the garage that I keep the snow off of.  It was even on the snow all over.  If this keeps up I will have to dig out my old snowshoes that I have not used in 30 years.

In the nearly 30 years I've lived in the sierra; Saturday, (just after reading your post about ice pellets) I experienced my first ever ice storm, though small by any standard, they were most definitely ice and not hail.

Now it's snowing like crazy and will all day and night, which is fine, except when I have to get out and clean the satellite dish off.

Can you put something like a heat lamp up there that you can turn on and off as needed.   I was told not to unplug my WiFi dish system in the Winter as the power going into it keeps the system working.  The dish is small about the size of a over size saucer, looks like a small Frisbee in size.

There is a heater we could buy, just haven't bothered yet, but thanks for the reminder.
Our dish is identical to that of our Dish satellite TV receiver.

The Dish satellite TV receiver for the wife's TV has not been affected with all this snow as it is very dry, it just slides right off.

We got 1" of snow over night again.
