Title: Verizon Wireless plans $30M-$90M customer refunds
Post by: walkstall on October 03, 2010, 08:10:48 PM
NEW YORK — Verizon Wireless could pay out up to $90 million in refunds to cell phone customers who were improperly charged for inadvertent Web access or data usage over the past several years.

The FCC had asked Verizon Wireless last year about $1.99-a-megabyte data access fees that appeared on the bills of customers who didn't have data plans but who accidentally initiated data or Web access by pressing a button on their phones.

In a statement on its website Sunday, Verizon Wireless said most of the 15 million customers affected will receive credits of $2 to $6 on their October or November bills. Some will receive larger sums. Customers no longer with the New York-based carrier will get refund checks.

Since I heard about this,I'm trying to figure out which wrong button I keep pushing on my house phone that causes CenturyLink to just add $32.00 to my bill for no reason and they cannot explain how it happens! AND they told me the last time it happened that I could not deduct that amount and would have to wait a full billing cycle and let them remove it.! I sent the bill in with payment MINUS the $32.Stupid jerks.!

Sounds like they  need to send you a new phone with out that botton.  Now I did not know there was a botton on a landline that would do that.  Unless it is for out of area calls.  All my phone call are out of area.  So for $ 15.00 more a month all my calls are covered it is good for us as we are 75 mile out of town.

walkstall,I was being sarcastic when I wrote that post about my telephone provider. They just willy nilly at times add a ridiculous fee to my bill for no reason.I have the $15.per month fee for all long distance calls.I have to go over my phone bill very very carefully each month to see if I'm being charged for something they just wanted me to donate to their cause.!
