If one is not familiar with ATL you cannot comprehend what a mess this is. This section of I-85 is about one mile north of where I-85 and I-75 merge just north of downtown to flow straight thru downtown ATL. It is the major route for NE ATL and its populous suburbs to the city. This is going to be nightmare for months and will clog all the nearby surface streets as well. I am very glad I do not live there anymore. This will probably impact Taxed if he needs to go downtown.

Thankfully I'm out of town, but you are right, if I had to pick the worst spot for this to happen, that would probably be it.  I used to live off Lindberg Drive years ago in the early 90s and know that area really well.

When I was six years old we lived in those old apartments at Piedmont and Lindberg.

I have delivered many of precast concrete products in this area in the last 3 years. It's hell getting down there now with I 85 gone.

I send my guys out two hours earlier because of this mess. They usually start at 6am and now they start at 4am until things get back to some kind of normal.

People sleep peacefully at night because there are a few tough men prepared to do violence on their behalf.

A foolish man complains about his torn pockets.

A wise man uses it to scratch his balls.

I understand officials are suggesting I-285 as an alternative to downtown. Those two routes, south and west, are parking lots during normal rush hours already. Also, the surface streets are totally inadequate for traffic from those area northeast of ATL.

It is a small world as I dated a girl who lived in those apartments on Morosgo when I was in my early 20's.

I think they're torn down now... last time I was in the area they had some serious construction going on around there...  I lived there in 1993 or 1994...  memories...

Yep. Having 400 come through the area really made it change. I was born in 1943 and remember ATL in the 50's. I recall what a big deal it was in 1957 when the greater ATL area first surpassed one million folks. Now what does it have - five plus million?

Yeah, it's grown like crazy... when I moved to Atlanta as a teen in the early 90s, I was so excited to be living there.  I remember how cool it was that the Olympics were going to be there.  Speaking of 400, I remember when they extended it from 285 to 85 with the tolls...  that was such a big deal for the folks up north.

That was a big deal. The areas it went through were not exactly poverty areas so the cost of the land had to be very high.
