Our 7 year old rescue, boxer/pit/bird dog mix, was just diagnosed with incurable lymphoma on her spleen. Shes the sweetest dog in the whole world and this is killing us .

We have decided we wont put her through chemotherapy because the vet said typical results are dubious in her experience. We brought her home to love on and spoil and pray for. Shes still really active and has the appetite of a small horse. The vet found the mass during a routine yearly check up

Anybody have experience with homeopathic treatments or other ideas that may give our girl some quality and maybe a bit more time ?

Thank you

We also do rescues and my heart goes out to you. We have also had experience with similar cancers. Based on our experience you are on the right track. Give as much love and comfort that you can.

Not knowing a dogs anatomy, but I no longer have a spleen. Is there a reason they can't simply remove it? Also, see a second vet, misdiagnoses do happen.
Good luck!

My heart goes out to you........we lost our Rosco a Dutch Shepherd to lymphoma and it wasn't pretty at the end. I wish I would have taken action a month before.

I don't wanna take the focus off of you best friend...my heart goes out to you and now she's crossing over the Rainbow Bridge in the sky running free.

Take solace in the fact that dogs live a shorter life because they discover true unconditional love.

Awe I am so sorry.  Just give her all the love you can.

My mini schnauzer, Tanner, had a spinal embolism this July.  He couldn't walk and I had to get him one of those wheelchairs for dogs.  He used it about a week!  He gets around now.  His back left leg was affected and he fell on the ground when it happened.  I thought he was having a stroke.

His toes on that foot curled under and it was terrible.  After he got going again about a month later.  His toes straightened out and now it no longer is bloody.  He put on 5 more pounds and he is just not as active as he used to be.  The doctor says it can happen again.  He cannot go up stairs so I have to lift his butt up.  I love him.  He's a really special dog.

We, too, went through such a tragedy.

Our favorite Boxer / German Shepherd, at about the age of 9, began to get sick and soon left us.

She was the kindest and most intelligent dog in the world. Our whole family agreed with this and wore it, literally, in their arms. It wasn't easy though, as she weighed 90 pounds.

Unfortunately, homeopathic remedies do not work on dogs. And cats. And also on people.

But every true dog lover knows that there is only one way to reduce the pain in the soul from parting with a pet. Get another dog. And all your love for your former dog will very quickly transfer to a new dog and it will seem to you that it is that pet of yours who is waving its tail at you.

It's been over two years and it's still very difficult for me to talk about. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think about him, miss him and wish I could have done more to defend him.

Approximately two years ago, I was walking our Yorkie at midnight out in our backyard. We had went into the alley and were only about a house or two away. A house or two away from us, the garage door started going up. As soon as the door was up enough, two Pitbulls ran toward us. I instinctively picked my dog up to protect him. I was attacked and bitten as they tried to get to my Yorkie. Both of us were seriously injured. I went to the ER via my Son while my wife rushed our Yorkie to the Emergency Vet. Our dog survived but, was seriously injured. My wife and I slept on the livingroom floor with him for a couple of weeks until his wounds healed.

A couple of days after the first attack, I found out that the dogs had never even been to a vet and did not have any Rabies shots... I should mention that our Homeowner's association prohibits animals from being loose as well as there is a law that says that animals are not to be allowed to run loose. The Police were unconcerned and the homeowner's association was unconcerned about either of us or that laws and rules were broken. The Police didn't even bother to come out, talk to us nor even do a report.

A few weeks later, (before my dog's fur even had a chance to grow back), my wife was walking our Yorkie before she went to work and this time, three loose Pitbulls attacked her and our Yorkie. My wife wasn't seriously hurt but, our Yorkie was. The Vet told us that it would take more than 10 surgeries to repair the damage IF my dog lived. It was decided that my dog had suffered enough. I kissed his brow and he was euthanized while still under anesthetic.

There is no question that my dog was a gift from God. The way he came to me, the timing and cost all point to God's hand. The way he fit into our family, the hope and joy that he gave me and the many things that he got me through, all point to God's sovereign hand.

Because of the tragic and traumatic events, we no longer have any pets. Frankly, I would be so paranoid to walk a dog anymore that it just isn't worth it. I give love to all the neighborhood dogs (with the exception of Pitbulls), when I see them. Time has made it easier to deal with the loss but, it will never be erased from my memory.

I pray that your hurt and grief might also be reduced in time.
