Got a new router beings what I had was 15 years old, and was have problems with net connection.  After loading it up my net speed doubled.  Everything loaded much faster.  After being on the net for about 2hr. I had to fix dinner and do the dishes.  (Yes I enjoy cooking and do dishes at my age)   Came back to the computer and the net was down and it was down all night.   So my problem is not at my end, it's the Wifi Service.   The new router was not a waste of money as I do like the new speed it gives me.

What kind of a router did you get? I have one from Comcast but I'll be switching to Century link in the near future.

Linksys AC1200+ Dual-Band.   As we have a much smaller retirement home now, only 3 bed rooms.  I had a Netgear that lasted 15+ years.

This is the info. on it.

Thanks for the info. It looks like it should work OK with DSL.

Years ago when I had DSL through SW Bell, I hated it. Slow, down a lot, and sometimes messed up the phone lines.

Century Link is better than it use to be with speeds to 40mbps where I live. Some parts of Denver have 1 gbps speed! Cheaper than Comcast by $40/month too.

What the new router has done for me.

News clips down loads are no problems now, before it would take up to 6mins. to play a 1min. clip.

Youtube does not stop to load, it plays the hole thing.

The colors are much more vivid on all clip and news.

Sound is much more clear.   (understandable with my poor hearing)
With my new hearing aids I can stream from my pc right in to my hearing aids.   The clarity I would say is ten fold with the new router.

I can now load two or three sits without delay.

I should have done this 5 years ago.
